    1:16 pm

    Hi all,

Another year and more friggin' zombies! A buddy of mine (Jay Justin) is gearing up to do a zombie feature called "1:16 pm". He hired me on (after seeing Night'07) to handle some of the more principal zombie effects. Anyways, this weekend we shot a 9 minute promo piece for the movie where we had 130 deadheads show up. I've posted some pictures from the weekend below and if any of you are facebook users you can check out the facebook group --> 1:16 pm Facebook Group

Wow! That is an impressive amount of zombie extras! And looks like the age range is good. Nice work on the makeup too.

Yeah, that was the only picture I didn't like. Why is it no one want to make a movie with slow moving zombies anymore? Besides Romero of course.

hey, I made Night'07 with slow zombies, if it were up too me, I would've done this one with slow zombies as well. However, after reading the script for 1:16 p.m., it works better that they are faster in it.

Let me correct myself then, most film makers don't like to have slow moving zombies in their movies.

    Re: Running zombies.

I'm finishing up the script for a zombie feature I'm hoping to shoot early next year, and while I don't have "Dawn of the Dead"-remake style runners, I do specify that the zombies can move at a fairly fast shambling/staggering run.

I think the thing is that the 1990 "Night..." remake pretty much showed that the threat of slow-moving zombies can be a bit silly, with Patricia Tallman just having to walk out of the house and walk through the zombies.

I think the Z's have to have a bit of mobility to make them a decent threat.

However, I agree that Zach Snyder's sprinters were pretty ridiculous :-P

And livingdeadboy, love the pics :-)

FOr me the runner is just a scarier zombie, not too mention I like to keep the action pacing in my films lighting fast, running zombies just work better for certain zombie films, plus with the modern age, you have to ramp up the terror a little bit.

After 9/11 slow moving zombies would be an easy threat to deal with, runners... well that just changes the whole ball game.
