And so begins the end of mankind as the dominant lifeform...

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. It's a beginning though...

It's surely only a matter of time until something is produced, that has some sort of cognitive reason and even self awareness? The moment that happens the world will change for ever...

Possibly, but I'm still waiting on my commercially available flying car and space vacations to other planets, and while certainly an eventual possibility, we have way more immediate technological issues to comes to terms with.

It's just amazing how the seemingly inherent flaws of man are so rarely addressed by looking at ourselves when it comes to improving our lot in life and that of future generations, and instead we always think we're going to create something that makes life so much better somehow and then we turn it into a way to complicate or cheapen ourselves.

I have always known about man. From the evidence, I believe his wisdom must walk hand and hand with his idiocy.

Yes, I'm feeling a bit pessimistic today
