    Brothers in arms:hells highway..

I picked this up in the sales yesterday as i enjoyed the first game a lot,and have to say this one is pretty good too!as well as quite shocking in places, like i was firing at some germans last night & hit one in the face with the garand, the camera zooms in & goes slow motion showing the poor guys head flying apart, same applies when you grenade an enemy position, slow motion view of them getting blown apart, limbs flying off & entrails etc
Graphically its pretty good, although as ive been playing far cry 2 for the past month it doesnt look anywhere near as good as that, and annoyingly you cant tweak the graphics much,i was expecting to be able to turn the anti-aliasing up & get rid of jaggy edges but there isnt the option to do so!
It plays well though & i like the "dig in" feature for when your behind a wall or whatever & the camera zooms out to a third person view, other than that its very much like the first one with the squad commands, most of the time you have two squads,an assault team & & bazooka/machinegun team that you can use for flanking etc
From what ive played so far its worth a blast anyway!

I played the first one (didn't bother with "Earned in Blood" though), so I'll no doubt get into this when I find it dirt cheap ... although I do wonder about all these slow motion gore-fascinated moments which I've seen in it online ... it's kinda like in Call of Duty 5, it has moments like that, although less about focussing on gore over all, and more about creating a cinematic moment - but the notion of zooming in to marvel at a CGI German's head bursting, or legs getting blown off is a bit much I think.

Although limbs get blasted off in COD5 too, but it's usually in the heat of battle and just makes it all the more visceral. I do think there needs to be gore in these games, because just pockets of dust or momentary red hazes is just silly, and with it being about war it needs to be grislier ... although in COD5 they use a lot of documentary footage with real dead people in it and people dying, which is a little bit of a swing when you've just been capping CGI asses ... but an interesting idea at least to try and position reality nearby, just to at least remind the dumb-dumb eleventeen year olds who think it's cool to shout racist slurs down XBL or whatever.
