Grace. (2009)

Caught this on cable last night, and I'm still not sure if it's the greatest indie film of all time, a decent inventive little movie, or a load of crap.

Grace deals with a young woman (Jordan Ladd ) who, as she awaits the arrival of her first child, suffers the loss of both her husband and (supposedly ) her baby. Unable to copy she decides to deliver the baby anyway, and then the horror starts.
Filmed in an almost roughshod manner, Grace wastes no time in establishing the 'Only A Mother Could Love. ' theme when her miracle child begins to exhibit a thirst for which Mother's Milk just won't do.
To the credit of the film makers, we see nothing particularly monsterous about the infant, no fangs or little claws, just a regular looking kid. Perhaps the mom was abit off even before her desperate descent into madness, and the parallel storyline concerning her mother in law displayed an awkwardness in the cutting, and the supporting cast was too clearly peripheral in relationship to the main character.
However, if you allow it to, Grace do play the macabre aspect of the maternal instinct well, even as the conclusion is delivered with a thud rather than a shock.

Worth a look see.
