Yeah, loving it here too Tricky! The audio design is becoming my favorite aspect; the crackling guns, booming explosions and realistic chatter are perfect for creating the atmosphere most shooters lack. Here are the platform specific numbers for unlocking Hastings, looks like the PC crowd is going to unlock it first:

    http://www.battlefieldbadcompany2.co...tleforhastings

    PC:
    26,016,058

    360:
    15,461,367

    PS3:
    10,844,546

Dice has also confirmed that Battlefield 3 will release next year, I hope they keep up the quality that's been present in every game of theirs so far.

Heres a question, theres a track that plays during the loading screen for "Phu Bai Valley", I recognise it but its driving me mad trying to remember what it is! Its not fortunate son by Creedence, that usually plays on the title screen, its something else that sounds a bit bluesy/Hendrix-ish

    Vietnam is OK.
There's only 4 maps and 15 new guns and gadgets which are unlocked from the start.
There's more bad than good - for instance, there's only 4 maps and all the weapons and gadgets are unlocked from the start. I don't know why I say gadgets, as there weren't really any new ones. You have a syringe now rather than a defib. That kind of stuff.

The levels themselves, did I mention there were only 4? Well anyway they are marginally OK, nothing even remotely notable. And the new weapons, which are unlocked from the start giving you NO incentive to play the game past boredom point, are boring as hell and really don't add anything. Most notable is the flamethrower...boring.

I went back the original BFBC2 maps and found the G3 now has a red dot sight so tbh, Vietnam was a big fucking waste of 1200 points.

Little hard to please aint'cha! I'm enjoying it, I dont really see how there could be a shedload of extra gadgets for Vietnam, the main period weapons are all covered & it is only an add on at the end of the day. In comparison to some of the other DLC I've seen out there that people get ripped off for, I would say its a bloody good deal! Are you playing it on console or PC symph? on the PC version good scores in Vietnam unlock further items in the modern setting too, so theres extra incentive there, or there is for me who's only just bought both games & therefore havent unlocked all that many weapons. I'm a great sniper though, I've unlocked pretty much every sniper weapon & gadget & got the high awards for sniping within a week, I'm one of those annoying fuckers that survives a full round and racks up loads of kills while hardly ever being discovered, tricks I learned from Battlefield 2 a few years back

I've always had more fun playing recon using a shotgun and the shotgun perks. Hell, you used to be able to kill people from across the map with slugs, it was glorious. Vietnam is pretty damn fun though I am really enjoying it. Hill 137 is my favourite level, and the transition from jungle to the burnt out, firebombed remains of the hill at the second set of Mcoms is very very stunning.

yeah I wasn't expecting the gadgets to be all that great considering the period of the game's setting but still - its just really bland. Level design, weapons, "moments" in the game just aren't there.

Gone back to the original BFBC2 maps and have been finding them much more fun. Although it still frustrates me to fuck sometimes. I'm slowly going off gaming but still in denial.

How is the level design bland? Hill 137 alone is more visually dynamic than most maps in BC2, not to mention the lush jungle setting being a nice change of pace from the snow and desert filled maps we've been used to playing. The terrain is just as diverse, constantly going up or down hills, clearing clusters of bamboo huts, peeking around huge rocks and boulders to get the perfect shot, stuff like that.

It's definitely more infantry based than BC2, and I could see why that would annoy some considering you die much more often, but to say that the game is "bland" is just wrong, imo.

Well, Hastings has been unlocked by the PC community now, I had a few games on it yesterday, its a nice map & the napalmed hill burning in the distance looks awesome! Theres very few places to hide on it though which makes sniping difficult (the tree covered hill outside the US spawn being the best I found) and in my opinion they should open up the edges of the map a little more so sneaky players can exploit it by working round through the trees, at the moment your forced into open kill zones which means you annoyingly spend half your time respawning! I also think they should include an AA gun at each of the teams spawn points, as on several of the games I played we just got annihilated by some arsehole circling around the spawn in a chopper, there was no shortage of them in the Vietnam war (ask Jane Fonda ) so they could include some for that particular map to keep the spawn rapists at bay!

Helicopters are piss weak in this one, and can be taken out by a medics LMG. Shit, I destroyed 3 as a medic last round i played because of that, it was quite funny.

    Yes, actually I now agree!
I went back to it the other night and caught a PROPER round on "Hamburger Hill" - and man - that level alone nearly redeems the whole package. It certainly is beautiful and there's some really nice spots on it.

The jungly stuff isn't all that great, I mean there's nothing in the Vietnam section that makes me want to play it - but I did give it another go the other day and was more impressed with the LMG offerings and felt a bit more at ease with it. It is obviously a cut down version of BC2, in most respects - but it definitely has something else to offer - still dunno if its worth 1200 points for that one level though.
