They made something like a 1200% profit on The Purge. What would motivate them to actually improve the sequel? (And if someone says something along the lines of artistic integrity, concerning HOLLYWOOD of all things, here...SLAP, SLAP, SLAP! ::Hoping that slapped the naive out of whoever entertained such a ridiculous notion::
Modern Hollywood absolutely 110% does not care if their standards make the work of Uwe Boll look Shakespearean so long as the money men make a healthy return on their investment. Anytime a decent movie comes into existence it's all but an accident, or at best incidental to the Jurassic Park-model throw-more-CGI, throw more money in, and get more money out method of movie-making.
It sickens me that something with such a tiny budget made such a healthy financial return at the box office. All it does is open the door to another half-dozen 5mil or under crap projects that will end up with twice that spent bombing my digital cable with commercials concerning them.
