    Tony f****** Blair

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-38996179

Tony Blair is to announce his "mission" to persuade Britons to "rise up" and change their minds on Brexit.

The former prime minister will say in a speech later that people voted in the referendum "without knowledge of the true terms of Brexit".

..."To show how this decision was based on imperfect knowledge, which will now become informed knowledge."
Rather big coming from someone who's in effect helped kill millions of people and distrupt an entire region because he couldn't be arsed to check he had informed knowledge.

    P*** off Blair...

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Isn't article 50 (or whatever it's called) already in motion?

Besides, I can kind of see his point. Even though I agree with yours too. He's maybe not the best spokesperson but at least he's got a point.

It should always be remembered that he's one of the most henious human rights violators of the western world since Maggie and Raegan, tho.

IIRC the decision to trigger Article 50 has been officially made, but the actual triggering of Article 50 hasn't happened just yet (but will soon).

The campaign was ridiculous on both sides (especially that f*cking bus), and there was shit campaigning, patronising, and mistruths on both sides - although it was a bit of a f*cking cheek when the Leave side moaned that the government (the Remain side) hadn't planned for Brexit ... well, why would they? They weren't campaigning for it! Here's an idea, perhaps those campaigning for Brexit should have had the faintest clue of a plan leading into it, rather than just a load of rhetoric and a bus with a giant lie printed on the side of it.

This all said, the EU is its own worst enemy in some ways, getting involved in things it shouldn't, wasting money like nobody's business, and displaying considerable shows of arrogance - a bit of humility and just being involved in the main, international, cross-border issues and there might not have been so much resentment against them.

I'm not a particular fan of the EU - they've done good and bad - but it just seemed odd to me to go the Brexit route when there's so many other problems to deal with, many of which are now totally on the backburner because of Brexit.

Increasingly, around the globe, we're facing extremes of politics - the workable centre ground, where most people can be reasonably represented, is vanishing at an alarming rate. "Populist" politics? Pandering politics, more like - say anything to get into power, then go back on all those campaign promises (you know, the few made between all the rhetoric). Ironic, isn't it, that these "populist" movements - the ones who claim to be 'unlike' the politicians - end up being the most 'politiciany' of the politicians.

Common sense and rational, considered thought seem to have vanished from the political landscape in the last few years. It's now all extremes and nationalist parties and it pisses me off something rotten. The whole world's gone mad.

*insert 'Old Man Yells at Cloud' picture here*

Political trends can be viewed as a centrifugal force where parties and it's adherents will constantly push outwards toward the extremes - leaving the centre void - until they've reached a point where they are no longer of interest to the center voters. At that point, the extreme poles are abandoned as the popular support of the "centrist" voters leave the parties and the parties then scramble for a political strategy that will include this now lost demographic. This is evident by the sudden "reshaping" of the party to pander to a growing dissatisfaction with the voters. The poles are then abandoned and the parties end up in the middle again, where the process starts over because suddenly the parties have abanonded their "core" questions in favour for appealing to the broad masses. Thus once again they slowly start pulling toward the poles.

We're at the process where everyone is pulling toward their polar extremes.

I couldn't agree more. Blair has so much toxicity as a result of his support for Bush's oil war and the subsequent disasters that have leapt from that, that he should never be allowed to speak in public again. In fact, I'm of the opinion that he should be in the dock in the Hague.
