Favorite Horror Heroes

Who are your favorite horror heroes? Some of mine are Ben from NOTLD, Peter and Roger from Dawn, MacReady from The Thing, Reggie from Phantasm, and Father Karras from The Exorcist.

The first one that pops to mind is Ash from the Evil Dead. Part of what I like about him is that he's not stoic in the face of danger like many of the others. He feels human. I've always appreciated that in heroes.

Don't have any "horror heroes" as it were, but I suppose if one immediately pops into mind, it's Ellen Ripley.

All good suggestions here that I'd agree with (particularly the likes of MacReady and Ripley) ... sly wit from bassman with his ANOES2 mention, heh. Tommy Jarvis from Friday the 13th Part VI, is a suggestion ... although he does resurrect Jason, so he's a bit of a moron for that, lol!

Would Sarah Conner count as horror-ish hero? I can’t think of his name, but I’d also choose the father played by Thomas Jane in The Mist. He had good intentions, anyway.
