    RIP Michael Constantine

    https://www.nytimes.com/2021/09/08/o...ies-at-94.html

To me, he will always be best remembered as the creepy Gypsy King Tadzu Lempke in the movie version of Stephen King's Thinner.

"Why wasn't you watching, white man from town? Why wasn't you watching?" (because -and I suspect you also know this through your mysterious supernatural talents, old man- his kinky wife was giving him a blow-job while he was at the wheel. So, give the dude a break and take your fucking deadly curse off of him already!)

I never saw "Thinner". I loved the book. Is the film worth a watch?
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. I liked it; some people didn't, but these usually are the very nitpicky type of Stephen King fan who are almost never happy with any screen adaptation of any of his stories.

The cast includes some very recognizable names, like Joe Mantegna and the already mentioned Michael Constantine, as well as ones from character actors that you might not be very familiar with but the very second you see them you go: "Hey, it's that guy/gal!", like Peter Maloney ("Bennings" in John Carpenter's The Thing!) and Lucinda Jenney (the hooker in the hilarious sequence at the casino bar in Rain Man!) Stephen King himself makes an appearance in the film (as the pharmacist.)

Yeah I only ever read the book. As a kid no less! Remember liking it quite a bit.
