One good thing about music...when it hits you feel no pain!!

ok, i thought with the negative mood here lately that i would try to create a thread to once again bring us together. everyone loves music right? i work in a music store, and in the summer i work for a symphony festival. so i thought i'd share some of the music i like, and then if you guys want to comment or share then we'll know more about each other than we already do! i like lots of differant kinds: Hendrix is god, i love pink floyd, led zeppelin, the beatles. yes i love reggae, bob marley, steele pulse, black uhuru. i also love some rap, outkast, tupac, wu-tang clan. not much for modern country though. well, thats just a few, dont wanna bore you guys. just thought it would be a good oppurtunity to share and have fun!!!

I'm not a big fan of rap or country, but I like a little bit of pretty much everything. Lately I have been listening to Ray Lamontagne a lot. There is just something in his music that is amazing.

Stuff that I'm listening to alot at the mo,
    Johnny Cash, American IV.
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Murder Ballads.
    Love, The Best of Love.
Throw in plenty of Neofolk, some early 70s Bowie and a bit of New wave.
I like pretty much anything barring most contemporary pop and I'm not keen on rap.
The reasoning man who scorns the prejudices of simpletons necessarily becomes the enemy of simpletons; he must expect as much, and laugh at the inevitable.

Well, i'm personally into all kinds of stuff - aside from country, opera and rap - but my feet are firmly planted in the roots of hard rock and metal.

Right now, i'm listening to (and pissing off my co-workers) with Zakk Wylde's new Black Label Society cd "Shot to Hell" BLS, for those who haven't heard them is basically Black Sabbath on a HEFTY dose of steroids.

I listen to all kinds of sh*t though - from classical to classic rock (i'm a guitarist of 25 years, so how can I not like classic rock? ), metal to contemporary music. It's all good.

    I HATE (c)Rap.
I will jam to just about anything, from ABBA to Zappa.
Come to think of it, the song Fernando by ABBA is pretty nice.
    ALL of the Beatles.
The Grateful Dead (lost count of the shows attended)
I also have a small collection of songs from the 1920's.
Hell, even a few Pink songs are ok by me (that sexy weird chicka)
Government Mule, String Cheese Incident, Dave Matthews Band, Rusted Root, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Willie Nelson, the Outlaws, Molly Hatchet ...........oh man, you guys will DEFINITELY know I'm a freak for admitting this.......
Secretly I will smile as this one plays - Life is a Rock (But the Radio Rolled Me) by an unknown band called Reunion.
What's that? Never heard it? Sure you have......here are the lyrics, look it up, download that beeyatch and jam with me.

B.B. Bumble and the Stingers, Mott the Hoople, Ray Charles Singers
Lonnie Mack and twangin' Eddy, here's my ring we're goin' steady
Take it easy, take me higher, liar liar, house on fire
Locomotion, Poco, Passion, Deeper Purple, Satisfaction
Baby baby gotta gotta gimme gimme gettin' hotter
Sammy's cookin', Lesley Gore and Ritchie Valens, end of story
    Mahavishnu, fujiyama, kama-sutra, rama-lama
Richard Perry, Spector, Barry, Archies, Righteous, Nilsson, Harry
Shimmy shimmy ko-ko bop and Fats is back and Finger Poppin'

Life is a rock but the radio rolled me
Gotta turn it up louder, so my DJ told me (whoa whoa whoa whoa)
Life is a rock but the radio rolled me
At the end of my rainbow lies a golden oldie

FM, AM, hits are clickin' while the clock is tock-a-tickin'
Friends and Romans, salutations, Brenda and the Tabulations
Carly Simon, I behold her, Rolling Stones and centerfoldin'
Johnny Cash and Johnny Rivers, can't stop now, I got the shivers
Mungo Jerry, Peter Peter Paul and Paul and Mary Mary
Dr. John the nightly tripper, Doris Day and Jack the Ripper
Gotta go Sir, gotta swelter, Leon Russell, Gimme Shelter
Miracles in smokey places, slide guitars and Fender basses
Mushroom omelet, Bonnie Bramlett, Wilson Pickett, stop and kick it

Life is a rock but the radio rolled me
Gotta turn it up louder, so my DJ told me (whoa whoa whoa whoa)
Life is a rock but the radio rolled me
At the end of my rainbow lies a golden oldie

Arthur Janov's primal screamin', Hawkins, Jay and
Dale and Ronnie, Kukla, Fran and Norma Okla
    Denver, John and Osmond, Donny
JJ Cale and ZZ Top and LL Bean and De De Dinah

Tighter, tighter, honey, honey, sugar, sugar, yummy, yummy
CBS and Warner Brothers, RCA and all the others

Life is a rock but the radio rolled me
Gotta turn it up louder, so my DJ told me (whoa whoa whoa whoa)
Life is a rock but the radio rolled me

    spoken:
    Listen--remember, they're playing our song!
Rock it, sock it, Alan Freed me, Murray Kaufman, try to leave me
Fish, and Swim, and Boston Monkey,

I am straight as a board, but,...I would have tongue kissed Freddy if it would have kept that man alive.
Freddie Mercury WAS/IS Rock and Roll.
