hehe, an NVQ is a "National Vocational Qualification" - basically, what non-academic kids do to get a decent level of qualification before they leave high school. Perhaps a tad unfair, but aren't stereotypes always that way when makin' jokes, but you often find the more 'get up and go' non-academic (or down right thick) types taking an NVQ, they also have GNVQ ("general" I think). Guess that gag kinda fell a bit flat.
