Sourceforge remakes of classic strategy games

Recently found some good remakes of classic DOS strategy games

    1. Freecol - Open source remake of Sid Meyer's Colonization game. Requires Java virtual machine to run. Ongoing development including bug fixes and enhancements. Version 0.5.3 is stable enough, a 0.6 version is expected in the next two months.

    2. Freeciv - Open source remake of Sid Meyer's Civilization game. Latest version is 2.09. Offers multilanguage support. Also has an active development team.

    3. Race into Space - Open source remake of Buzz Aldrin's Race into Space. Classic game recreating the race to the moon. Windows version, sound works. Version 0.4 works well enough with bugfix2 file installed.

    4. Megamek - Java clone of Classic Battletech tabletop game. Computer Ai opponent can be very challenging. Can also play online against humans.

Beware the beast, man, for he is the Devil's pawn. Alone among God's primates, he kills for sport or lust or greed. Yea, he will murder his brother to possess his brother's land. Let him not breed in great numbers, for he will make a desert of his home and yours. Shun him, drive him back into his jungle lair, for he is the harbinger of death.
