Vol. 1 was better than Vol.2 ... not enough zombie action in Vol. 2 for my liking, and a there were a couple of things with character development that felt too sudden for my liking.

People jump in and out of bed with each other REALLY quickly in this, even though they're grieving, there's too many people shacking up, you know? Just an example.

Also, the mother of the two boys, what a moron for just waltzing into that zombie infested house ... dummy that she was.

However, the artwork continues to be awesome, and the situations that arise continue to intrigue ... although, so far, some of the dialogue leaves a bit to be desired (too explanatory, too long-winded, doesn't feel natural enough).

The character design is a bit different in Vol. 2 as well, so that took a bit of getting used to, but I will continue reading the "trade" volumes.

That's what messed me up about dawn 04' as well.

Lady your husband just got mauled to death and your ahcking up with Jake Weber !?! It was either that or Ving Rhames so...

But perhaps they feel the end is nigh anyway so might as well.

We went down and saw some more filming on Saturday... got a few pics - nothing earth-shattering though. The props were all in the same place from when they shot here last month. One thing was different: these signs about simulated gunfire!

The first thing we saw was a scene where Rick fled into an alleyway while being chased by zombies. They were not running at all, but they converged on him pretty quickly. In the pic below, he is on the left in a light-brown police shirt and dark-brown jacket, right behind the swung-out chain-link fence.

Unfortunately, that was my best shot because they started wrapping up right after. i couldn't get any good shots of the tank last time, so a took a few here:

They spent a lot of time in the alley, but it was blocked off so i could not see any filming once they were in it. here it is closed up as the wrapped up:

We saw four zombies close-up but they all were being wrangled by production assistants so i didn't get good shots. Three were driving into the set in full make-up, and one was being escorted down the street. They looked great - very similar to other pics we've seen. Oddly, all had facial wounds.

Edit: if anyone knows of a tag i can use to shrink the pics, let me know - sorry about the size.

I can only hold the bridge of my nose in stan marsh style distain at all my mates who know i read this and go "ey danny, so this walking dead?, is it any good?" and all i can do is give them a blank benjamine linus stare and "ive subscribed to it for almost a decade and its being made into a tv series. not a movie, a zombie tv series. what more could i say to give it a semblance of being of worth and note?"

It's just like bloody watchman, all my non comic reading mates were all "but how good is it really?" when right in front of them it says "one of time magazines 100 greatest novels of all time".

I dont know what bizarre language i shift into, or if people really can only engage in something if they get approval off someone they know, regardless of tastes, but if something has been well known, and well liked for years, enough for an adaption then you dont want to ask if its good at all,.
Just ask "is it for me? am i its target audience?" look at twilight, obviously popular enough with its audience to warrant an adaptation for the same audience in another medium.

I'll say this for the walking dead. In terms of comic book's it is the most important, competent and straight faced example of the zobie sub genre in the medium. Its not avatar press style 'zombie rips sweater and blouse off victim and grasps boob meat just cus' and its not the goons 'zombies cheating at poker im mimicry of 50's gangsters they were in life.
It's pretty much the romero universe. Only there is no beat you over the head subtext. it's just drama in the purest, none internet forum traditional sense of the word. It is good. it won't be for everyone, most notably the "CHICAGO TED" survival whackjob who wants to jerk off with a beretta tickling there prostate gland but for the people who just watch zombie movies for the actual horror of the situation and seeing people be people in said situations its worth your time.

Yea, that's definitely where shit gets real brutal.

Although, I must say, the three things that really made me say "WTF" and pause in my reading were...

At the end of the issue when Michonne, Glenn and Rick first make it back from Woodbury, only to see the prison had been overrun. The cliffhanger kind of implied EVERYONE were eaten, which wasn't the case at all, but before reading the next issue you couldn't help but think everyone was dead.

When they encounter their first horde after picking up Morgan and going to the police station. I felt like counting zombies to see how many were in that picture. It inspired many ideas for album covers in my head.

And the most stomach turning of all, when Ben killed his twin brother, gutting him and telling Andrea not to worry because "he didn't touch the brain." Very creepy, to think someone could be mentally unstable enough to gut their very mirror image and feel no remorse or sympathy at such a young age. I'm glad Carl popped that little bitch

The fear the hunters arc that came next took it further into unsettling territory. But it lead nicely into what looks like the next stage of ricks breakdown. From his fight in the prison to the deal with the governor and then losing lori and his daughter and the phone and now some recent personality traits and choices that make me think that rick is not going to be the protagonist by at least issue 110. kirkmans forshadowed it for years now.
