    'Lara Croft: Tomb Raider'

    1/10

I sat through 30 minutes and had to give up. All pout, emptiness, hollow posing and soulless action with a mangling of accent that bordered on the excruciating.

Lara Croft made me want to go to bed...and not in a good way.

Surreal, insane, pretentious, funny and frightening all at the same time.

    9/10

Now on to the Holy Mountain.

    Still great.

There really was a time there, when Mr Playmount couldn't put a foot wrong (apart from '1941').

"The Conjuring" 6/10 - ok run of the mill exorcism stuff. At least one good jump scare.

"Oculus" - 8/10 - Liked it a lot better than I thought I would. Even knowing that I adored Mike Flannagan's previous film "Absentia", I wasn't expecting much. This one had some of the same qualities of not spelling everything out, but wasn't as understated (fittingly so). Don't know if it was because I was drunk, but there was at least one jump scare that scared the ba-jaysus out of me, so that's a good thing. Very simply story, but told in an interesting way.

Expendables 2 - 6/10: Fun to watch at times, painful to watch at times, daft the rest of the time.
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. 3/10. By far the worst in the series (the only bad one imo). Everything about it was wrong, bad cast, bad acting, bad story, and having Busta Rhymes in it spoilt it even more!

Yeah, Halloween 8 is a true abomination. I don't think it's even worthy of 3/10 ... more like 0/10 in my view.
