An island, eh? Shades of DAY's original screenplay...

Yeah, I'm gonna adopt a wait and see attitude on this one.

It is a sequel, it's not a sequel, it is a sequel ... damnit GAR.

As for "swimming" zombies ... surely that's just zombies walking on the bottom of the water, like they did in Land, they just marched along the bottom (which we didn't see, cos it'd already been done in Pirates 1), so with if the water is shallow enough they can reach up and grab people when they're closer to the edge of the water.

I think where GAR is probably going with it is the indirect sequel thang. Just like none of the classic tetralogy films were linked by story or characters, I'm thinking it's going to be the same for Diary 2.

Well that's put a smile on my face anyway and the island setting gets a thumbs up from me.

    I agree with you

Also in Max Brooks’ World War Z we have a similar situation

    Said it before,
If GAR doesn't bend his neck enough to realize his "message" needs to take a back seat to a strong plot, at least mediocre acting, and good makeup/FX then we're just going to get handed another Land/Diary. It isn't that GAR lacks the skill or experience to make an awesome zombie flick (Lord no), it's that he's more focused on being a social commentator than a director.

I have high hopes for this new movie, but after Land and Diary GAR has lost enough "quality credibility" with me that I'm not willing to assume it's going to be great. Not in the way I assumed Land would be after the awesomeness of the Trilogy.

Let's all wish the man luck that he digs deep and delivers that one last great zombie flick to end his career on a high note.

WTF!!! I didn't even KNOW he was even planning on making another zombie movie, let alone already FILMING one! This is great news, regardless of whether it's a sequel or not (although I despise Diary).
