I hate Penelope Cruz and find her extremely unattractive. I told my kid the movie was coming out this Friday and she was like, "Yeah, let's do it!!!"
She loves Depp so much she even liked Crybaby. That bad...
I'll probably see it, but I'm not running out opening day and getting all crammed into a room with a bunch of Depp-douches.
I remember the first one being good, but don't really remember anything spectacular about any sequels so far.

"They're basically saying it's a soulless for-profit, cash grab. Uninspired. Poor screenplay, mailed in performance by Depp over the top performances by a few others etc."

Um, isn't that what every 'Pirates of the Caribbean' film is?

Interesting that the first movie got a lot of critical pans at the time, or certainly has in retrospect, and yet I thought it was a bloody good romp. Damned enjoyable. The sequels were far too big and bloated though, and too convoluted too. The third movie thought far too much of itself and damn it was looooooooong ... actually, I remember seeing both sequels in the cinema, and I remember seeing the third one in the cinema on my birthday in fact - and the cinema was ABSOLUTELY FUCKING PACKED TO THE RAFTERS, and there was this kid sat next to me who kept leaking this god-awful stench every five minutes ... little bastard.

Anyway, I'll no doubt be off to see this on Sunday.

I dont tend to pay much attention to reviews these days unless its a film I already know is going to be bad from the trailers etc, far too many critics have extremely high expectations for every single film that comes out, and as people they are probably far too serious or heavily arty in real life to be reviewing the kind of fun films that they do such as this one.
Just as an example I watched Jackboots on Whitehall last night, which is a silly puppet based world war 2 spoof in a similar vein to Team America. I enjoyed it for what it was and found it pretty funny in places, yet if you read a lot of reviews of it they give it 1/10 and moan about the lack of depth in the dialogue or how bad the animation is, ITS MEANT TO BE LIKE THAT YOU F*****G (see what I did there Neil) LUVVIE IDIOTS!

Between the fact that I wasn't a huge fan of the first three and the bad reviews this seems to be getting, i'll definitely be skipping it in theaters. A few reviewers say they actually fell asleep in the screenings.

I'll check it out when it's on netflix, though.

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Well, I thought they were all crap.

No-one's getting a prize for guessing that one.

I am kind of curious about the zombies, though, I must say. Is there a version you can watch that's only about those bits?

I feel exactly the same way about Your Highness. I saw in places critics were claiming it worst movie ever, as if they were trying to be anything but spoof of those olden times. He was even wearing a powdered wig in midieval times, and freely joked about it in interviews. If I would've listened to critics, I would've missed my personal favorite movie of this year so far.
So screw critics, but I'm still not seeing this crappy pirate movie. I should probably be surprised they seem to hate it. Figured they'd jizz all over it.
