I liked Land but it did not measure up to Dawn or Day by a longshot. It was overly "Hollywood" it was obvious that Universal had more control over the movie than Romero. I liked it when he casted all unknowns. I am hoping Diary will shine. I guess that may be wishful thinking.

HLS, this is probably your best post thus far in your illustrious HPotD history, worthy of points if we still had the system.

I didnt like Land that much but Diary looks much better...

Im excited about Diary. Land was the 1st GAR zombie movie that I think some other zombie movies are better than. I think Diary will fall somewhere between Day and Land for me....hopefully closer to Day.

    Agreed!
GAR with a 50 buck budget and shooting in the woods equals a poosible masterpiece. The more I hear aboutt his the more excited i am getting. I didnt want to get my hopes up because it might have goten shelved. 2 GAR zombie flicks in 1 decade is a wealth of riches.

I think an indipendent movie from a recognized author is an act of extreme bravery, today.

    "Land...Diary...equally promising"
I liked Land.....but I'm hoping Diary will be super duper badass.......(I bet if I said super duper badass anywhere else I would get my ass kicked)
I Corinthians 1:18-31 18For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 20Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 22For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 23But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 24But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. 25Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29That no flesh should glory in his presence. 30But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 31That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

I hope DIARY is not like BLAIR WITCH CRAP. Just an old-fashioned Zombie movie by the Master-Himself Romero.

By the looks of things it won't be all Blair Witch as TBWP was entirely from the viewpoint of the 3 documentary makers at the center of the film. Diary of the Dead looks like it'll be switching back and forth between the eye of the filmmaker and the eye of the protagonists.

Also, not sure, but it appeared as if he was shooting in HD possibly...

You certainly have an intelligent way with words. 2001 and Blair Witch are crap in your eyes but Simon Baker is god? I think you need a few movie lessons mate.

What? There's no real universal law that says 2001 is a good film and that Simon Baker is bad? If anything, you're the one that needs "movie lessons" man.

I Liked both 2001 AND Blair Witch. Blair witch was really good for a no budget movie. It was novel at the time and was pretty creative to get the most out of a low production value featute. I wouldn't give it a repeat view, but it was good the first time.
    And 2001 is lame? Huh?!?!
    Why? No CGI?
Hal 9000 is one of the great villians of all time.

I feel 2001 was a superb movie. I just watched this Saterday night. For its time, it was an award winning movie. Yes there are parts of the movie that is painfully slow but that was made up for with stunning space scenes and creepy music that penetrated your soul. Back then hollywood considered telling a real story in a movie was more important than GCI and a ton of useless fasted pase adventure scenes.

And HAL 9000 was a great villian. I do agree 100%

See 2001 on a big screen and you can see the true beauty of it. And some mental "enhancements" help too.
Though the opportunities on a big screen are probably only limited to film society screenings. Used to be a midnight show staple
