The utter hypocracy of it is enough to make you cry!

So a Saudi official joined the marches in Paris to support freedom of speech etc. Meanwhile back at home - http://www.independent.co.uk/news/wo...s-9967008.html

Saudi Arabia publicly flogged liberal blogger and activist accused of 'insulting Islam.'

Amnesty International confirmed to The Independent that Badawi, who was sentenced to 1,000 lashes, received the first round of 50 in a public flogging after Friday prayers, which it says continue every Friday for 20 weeks.

A witness told the human rights organisation that Badawi was removed from a bus in shackles and taken to a public square in front of the al-Jafali mosque in Jeddah. He was then flogged in front of a crowd and security guards for 15 minutes, before being put back on the bus and driven away.

Badawi was originally sentenced to seven years in prison and 600 lashes in July last year, but an appeals court overturned the sentence and ordered a retrial - which then earned him a more severe sentence of 1,000 lashes and ten years in prison.

And it unfortunately doesn't stop there - http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/...y-9973675.html

Because the Article 32 investigating officer who reviewed the government's evidence determined that there wasn't even probable cause to go to trial, and the general officer convening authority agreed.

Look, we'll never know what really happened in Haditha. I'll admit that it is conceivable that the Marines were lying their asses off and really intentionally shot all those people knowing they were nothing but innocent civilians. But at least the story they told was consistent with their training and the ROE they were taught.

You suggested that Haditha was worse than the Charlie Hebdo incident. Is there even a THEORY for how what happened in the Charlie Hebdo offices might not be cold-blooded murder? Like, the Kouachi brothers just went to the offices to have a little heart-to-heart chat with the editors, bringing their AK-47s along just for the heck of it, but one of the cartoonists made a sudden move towards his cell phone and they thought he was going for a weapon?

Haditha was a bloody massacre where marines went on a rampage and killed several of iraqi innocent child, women and elderly. I believe upwards 25 were killed. Released statements from the charged later tell us of how little they cared for human life. They would fire ate unarmes vehicles filled with innocent civilia s at checkpoints simply because it was an easier alternative than to go through proper procedures.

The fact that they werent charged is just absurd, but it doesnt acquit them any more than say OJ Simspon. Theyre cold blooded murderers and they killed innocents for no real reason but vengeance.

And the Pope shows how out of sync he is with modern (civilised) culture - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-30838667

"It's normal - you cannot provoke, you cannot insult the faith of others,'' he said.
Ummm, yes you can. It's called free speech and is healthy, normal and necessary!

Maybe he should watch The Life Of Bryan. Would he go out on a sanctimonious shoot spree afterwards?

So Badawi's appeal as Saudi Arabia's Supreme Court upheld his sentence of 1000 lashes and 10ys imprisonment.

    Can you believe:-
    a) Saudi Arabia are on the Human Rights Council - Why are they not booted out?
    b) Get are trying to head it - http://www.independent.co.uk/news/wo...-10267783.html

A Bangladeshi blogger known for his secular views has been hacked to death by a gang armed with machetes in the capital Dhaka, police say.

Niloy Neel was attacked at his home in the city's Goran area.

He is the fourth secularist blogger to have been killed this year by suspected Islamist militants in Bangladesh.

Imran H Sarkar, head of the Bangladesh Blogger and Activist Network, told the BBC that Mr Neel had been an anti-extremist voice of reason.

"He was the voice against fundamentalism and extremism and was even a voice for minority rights - especially women's rights and the rights of indigenous people," he said.
