His version of California Girls was, er... The video was really funny Capt ... Steve Vai did the arrangement , I think its not such a great tune myself , but it knocks the tar out of the original , in my opinion. It's a matter of opinion I suppose. Either way, DLR's showmanship is a billion times better than Hagar's. I loved Daves attitude , but think Sammys intonation and approach is different and sometimes vocally better than Dave (live that is) ...Check out some of the songs VH did on Balance ...

Hell no, The Beach Boys are boss! Yeah , I respect that Capt' ... its just that the drums and bass lines are tighter Bissonette & Sheehen are one of the ultimate ryhtm sections . Have to admit tho , Beach Boys : cool . Van Halen was never normal , they did set the standard .What they did became normal . Then all guitar players were hand tapping blah ... Van Halen will be what they are no matter who complains ... Quote Edward :" I would rather fail playing my own music than fail playing cover tunes ." There is no normal VH , they arent gonna insert a certain front man simply because of complaints . They abnormal thing was the Pepsi Clear using "Right Now" ... but then again , 50 million was paid to the brothers Halen (50 million in 1994 dollars goes along way) , then there was a Rolling Stone 'Got Milk ?'w/ Alex Van Halen ... One musician I have alot of respect for is John Lydon , he has always makes his point w/ out commercialism . PIL : "This is what you want , this is what you get ."
