We should have nuked this country along with North Korea over 50 years ago and we would not have this problem today. We also need to quit buying cheap worthless shit made in China and make our own products. I fear bad things are going to happen to our country in the near future. Said navy isnt making much headway with a bunch of poorly armed goat herders at present though, nor is the combined ground & air forces of NATO. Conventional armies dont win wars anymore despite how impressive their gear & numbers are, I guess it would depend on whether China fought "properly" or not... If war between the two were to happen, I highly doubt that it would turn into another guerrilla war, as the Chinese have focused so much money on building up a modern fighting force. Also, aircraft carriers are generally escorted by other smaller ships, that have the capability to destroy incoming missiles minutes before they come close to striking their target. Hell, aircraft carriers themselves have plenty of anti missile defense systems in place. The real question should be whether or not China currently has enough missiles to overwhelm the missile defense systems of a carrier battlegroup?

How is this going to shift anything? China already is the dominant power in the region, and has been for some time. I agree, and they will hardly attempt to destroy the peoples that buy the most of their sometimes corrupted schnizz. True, they are wayyyy worse to mess with, on paper, than Russia was. But isn't this really just more posturing? Who wants to end it all anyway? The smart ones don't believe in all that religious nonsense. There is a paradox in all this: how can those who want to subjegate the masses greedily want to end it all? It's all a bunch of fear tactics. Chinese fire drill the shit out of us, then try to fatten us up with high glucuse corn syrup... Truth is, we are forerunners of a new type of civilization supposedly in danger of being wiped out by war or man made catastrophe. I'm not buying it. I am a firm believer in shrugging off the chains of superstitious, GAWD fearing... well, for lack of a better word... superstition. I don't believe for one second they wanna attempt to finish us off. Also, I saw where someone said something about us not being in the game anymore, so to speak. True, we are lacking in ingenuity right now, but we make up in heart. Don't count us out, and don't hope for us to "tap out"... Power is only in the eyes of the beholder, and that just might occasionally be biased and semi delusional...

I wasnt talking about trying to use the ships on land I was thinking more the launching of missiles from ships on to land as has been done with Afghan in the past & made sod all impact. What good would the biggest navy in the world do against China these days if it came to a ruck unless it was nukes you were deploying? Defend Taiwan against invasion. Navy's a fair bit more useful for preventing amphibious invasions than putting down insurgencies.

It's actually better if you explode it above the country or area you want to attack (above a section of the ocean)- the EMP will send the country/area back to the dark ages: no power for anything, no computers , no communication, no modern transportation, planes would drop from the sky, ships would be dead in the water, destroy the economy as most businesses wouldn't be able to function,...) allowing for much easier take over. The ending of John Carpenter's Escape from LA could be prophetic. .

Wars are fought in unconventional ways now yet the U.S. is still spending hundreds of billions of dollars on relics from past wars like said aircraft carriers, cold war era Jets, etc. Again, there's alot of fat that needs to be trimmed from our militarty budgets not to mention pulling back from our carious military "committments" around the world. Having troops in S. Korea is one thing but why is it that still we have over 100,000 combined troops in GErmany and Japan again?
