Until there is an official declaration of what falls into post-apocalyptic and what does not, I must boycott this thread.

    here is a suggestion:

a post-apocalyptic film/tv show is one in which:

    a. modern civilization has been destroyed.
    b. a large percentage of the human population has died.
    c. portrays an attempt by the remaining people to survive whatever cataclysm has happened and start anew.
    d. is global in scale (with some exceptions).

    Virus (1981) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virus_(1980_film)

"Survivors" and the 1981 "day of the triffids" DVD's are excellent, I own both series and highly recommend them, tons of atmosphere.
Oblivion gallops closer, favoring the spur, sparing the rein - I think we will be gone soon

It's really pre-apocalyptic but the movie Last Night(i think that's what it's called) is great. Its a canadian film about everyone's last day on earth. Funny what all these people are doing when they know its all about to end.

Oh and post 800!!! I am now officially Twitching!!

Ray Bradbury wrote an interesting one on that theme in his collection, The Illustrated Man, later a movie with Claire Bloom and Rod Steiger.

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064473/

One of the segments, all starring Bloom and Steiger in different parts, is about a society where the adults collectively dream about the end of the world the next day.

An episode of Night Gallery, Rod Serling's follow up to his successful Twilight Zone, had Clint Howard as a child progeny who becomes a TV celeb when his predictions start coming true. When he has an unexpected revelation about a great global change, he tells the world of it's Utopian tomorrow, but what he tells his grandfather and his handlers is quite different.

It's called 'The Boy Who Predicted Earthquakes. '

i saw a film on e4 (an artys kinda movie channel thats free in the uk) and i saw a movie about the last day on earth before some unnamed cataclysm, it followed a few characters, a chinese woman heading home to commit suicide with her husband, a man who jut wants to leave his families fake Christmas and go home and drink and a man who wants to experience everyone of his sexual fantasies before it happens, it wasn't "last day" but something like it.

I love Night of the Comet. Hell, I went out as soon as I found out it was available on this very board and bought it. In fact, we had some fun discussions about it at the time. That was just this last Summer, right?
