I heard about the studs on the escalator at Pennys too, but when I visited there were none. Almost too tempting to ignore, but my wife wouldn't let me take the slide saying that she would be embarrassed if some punk-kid security guard escorted us out of the mall. Considering she was cool enough to agree to go to Monroeville for our vacation and tolerate a comic book convention, I had to obey her, but now I wish I had done it just to say that I did. When you were about to leave you say "i'll be right back!". Run off, do your bit, she's none the wiser! That said, I know the feeling. My GF givs es me much slack, so I got to give her some of what she demands sometimes.

I live an hour away from Monroeville Mall and I am sooo tempted... Who will take bets I can do this without killing myself (bad back)or guards carting me off the premises? I totally support you going for a Roger down the escalator! You need a spotter at the bottom to give you the all clear, then thrash it down from the top when it's clear up there, and then haul ass outta there before the security reacts.

Now to bribe my getaway driver hehe!! The plan has begun!!! As far as I am concerned it counts to do it from wherever, as long as you land on your feet at the bottom. Of course, it's probably easier -- and safer --to start from the top rather than half way down. I figure you will need a few accomplices-- like that other dude stated -- at least one spotter at the bottom to clear traffic and look out for security, and someone to operate the camera. Figure, even if you get caught, what can a "security officer" really do except take names and kick people out of the mall for the rest of the day. Worst case scenario, though, is that you have a bad landing and injure yourself. Maybe there should be an additional team member on the bottom that can catch you if you pitch forward on landing! Protective gear would probably be a good thing --knee and elbow pads and the like.
