Crazy! It cost me £15 the following year...

Mmm, I think the most expensive thing I ever bought moviewise was A Nightmare On Elm Street on VHS before it was released in the shops. Back in those days, brand new rentals were expensive and it cost me nearly £70.

Agreed. I think I paid over 100 for the first Ghostbusters on VHS. What was I thinking!

That film was worth every little cent.

The Japanese releases of the Star Wars films I bought back on LaserDisc in the mid-80s cost around $180 each.

I have to go with my various OF THE DEAD Laserdiscs. I don't think I've spent more than $50.00 on any particular VHS or DVD that I can remember. The laserdiscs on the other hand, expecially the imports are often in the $150.00 range.

I'm loving these titles. I can't believe you spent £215 on a movie called "Violation of the Bitch". At that price you'd want to be sure you were getting a damn good violation and a real cold bitch!

The title reminds me of this:

Yikes. With a title like that, I assume you paid the extra money to have the disassembled tape smuggled through customs in separate packages from a "specialist" in Sweden.

Same here, and I got it signed this weekend which tagged on an extra 15 bucks to the original price.

Doctor Who Series DVD sets - which usually run about $60-$70 on eBay.
    I have Series 1-3.

The 13 disc Steptoe And Son set cost me £50.

21 disc Hammer collection only cost me £35 but I saw it for £70 when it first came out.

Other than that expensive A Nightmare On Elm Street VHS I bought, I remember that I paid a good £30 for the director's cut of The Big Blue many moons ago.
