Exactly. The vast majority of movies are fine as they are.

If people really feel the need to "re-make" stuff, make a movie that is inspired by >insert title<

I can only think of a few remakes that really did improve on the originals (nBSG, The Thing, Night 1990 etc)

But if anybody ever tries to remake Zulu, they will be found dead with an Asagi buried in their heart...
Oblivion gallops closer, favoring the spur, sparing the rein - I think we will be gone soon

Yes, you do have a point there.

Y'know, I think you're onto something there. Interesting. I mean, I've complained about certain music "covers" here and there, but they're far and few between. Yet, for some unknown reason, covering songs doesn't bother me as much as remaking movies. Perhaps it's the language, I don't know, but that's a very interesting observation that I think requires more discussion.

I wouldn't have a problem with remakes if they have someone competent behind the camera overseeing the project properly.

While most people hate YAWN 04, which is more of title thing than an overall movie thing... Zack did do a decent job of making a zombie film, now if the rest of these yutz's that remake flicks... YES RZ I am talking about your fucked up ungodly remodeling of Halloween, then we probably wouldn't be here having these discussions.

What I find interesting is that people cut the NOTLD remake a lot of slack because the screenplay was by Romero and Savini directed, yet Savini himself has said it isn't what he wanted and only about 30% of the movie is what he likes, so the director himself pretty much says that 70% of his Night remake is shit, without actually saying the word shit.

Now I enjoy Night 90, but why does that get cut slack while DAWN 04 doesn't. I want a viable argument here, not the running zombie argument... but anyway... All the other remakes of our popular 70's and 80's horror flicks suck ass because no one who is competent went behind the camera.

Today's horror flicks aren't horror films they are terror films. Big difference. Anyway... enough rambling.

To get back on Topic I would have to say:

    Back To The Future
    Ghostbusters
    Lethal Weapon Series
    Godfather Series
    Scarface
    Shawshank
    Breakfast Club
and a few others shouldn't be touched.

I'm almost tempted to flag the original Lethal Weapon film as an exception, if for no better reason that putting that horrible Mel Gibson helmet hair to rest. I didn't realize how horrifying that looked when I saw the movie the first time.

Riggs, get down! I can't see over your helmet-hair! RIGGGGGGS!!!

I'm against remakes in general but, in particular: any film that strongly believe modern Hollywood would entirely misjudge and misunderstand, or that I think still has sequel milage.

The real sad part of all of this is the fact that most of the movies we name here that we don't want to see remade, probably will be in the near future.

I got through the first page of that shit and closed it. I cannot believe this. Does Hollywood really believe the only way they can make money is by remaking old films?! They ever think that maybe this is why they're not making the money they want to?!

Someone seriously needs to go and just level that town with a large nuke or something. They have completely lost their way and from what I'm seeing, they're never going to make it back on track.

They should remake Hollywood. Just take all the head hancho's out and replace them. Maybe the new guys will bring better luck...
