There's a similar video to this where some Americans hide one under the sofa and set it off under their mate. Not only would it hurt like buggery on your bollocks and bungpiece, but in the video I'm on about it set the couch on fire.

Set the couch on fire?! WTF is in an airbag that would catch something on fire?!

Has anyone seen these (sorta) new Old Spice commericals? This dude is funny:

I've heard of those adverts for Old Spice, but haven't seen any until now. They're pretty damn funny.

Exactly. Things happen very quickly in an accident, and the airbag has to get in between you and the hard bits of your car before you reach the aforesaid hard bits. Better to have your nose broken by the airbag (which does happen occasionally) than to have your steering column through your forehead.

Similar principle: sometimes airplane ejection seats cause spinal injuries by their operation. But better that than be in the way of your jet's tail fins as your jet zooms by underneath you, or not have enough altitude for your chute to deploy, or ride your jet into the ground because the seat tried to usher you out too gently (and slowly).

That dude is like the ultimate suave male character. The way he says "Hello ladies, how are you, fantastic!" without taking a single pause just makes me laugh. He has the perfect radio/tv voice..

The first one, where he ends with "I'm on a horse" - I watched a show about how the commerical was created, and would you believe it took 3 days to film that, and what you see on screen was a single take, no cuts or anything. They said they used no CGI whatsoever, aside from when they pan back from the horse - there was a machine that lifted him from the boat to the horse (when he's talking about the shell with "two tickets to that thing you love") and the arm of it was visible when they panned back, so they had to mask it out of the shot. Other than that, no CGI and a single take. Wow.

I think the 2nd one was done with one take too, but there is definitely some crazy CGI going on at the end of that with the hot tub & motorcycle and all..

Here's a nice little "making of" breakdown of the first commercial. Starts around 4:30...

bassman - that's the video I watched that explained how it was done. I'm actually a fan of Leo Laporte (been watching him since his days on TechTV hosting "The Screen Savers") so I happen to listen to TWiT all the time. I was quite pleased he interviewed these guys.

    Thanks for posting that.

Not a funny video, but this relates to those tower climbing videos posted a few pages back. These guys have gone higher. *gulp*

A buddy of mine gashed his head and had to get a staple in his melon.

It went a little something like this:

    Those aren't real problems, Sam.
