"Starry" was better acted, no argument there, though the lead in "Alyce" was really good in the part. I dug the guy playing the drug dealer too.
Yeh, he was good. A real little dirtbag.

But, with 'Alyce', a few of her actions felt too forced.

Her willingness to gobble him off for a few pills came across as ridiculous, TBH

There were some alluded to mental & behavioral issues even BEFORE she pushes her "friend' (whom she's obviously infatuated with) off the roof. After that...? So apparently the girl ain't right.

Sorry to hear that. Feel better soon. JIK consult this handy chart:

And anything above a "5" I'd say go see a doctor.

    Hang in there bro.

"Blood Glacier" 7/10 (Good) - This import from Austria plays like a foreign homage to Carpenter's "The Thing" at its core, wrapped in an eco/environmental coating. Not bad, but a little to familiar + a strong "WTF?!?" ending kept me from rating any higher.

Even though I have the vibe that "Lucy" isn't going to be all that great, the urge to see it is strong. The gravitational pull of ScarJo is too much...

    Ditto.

Watched Lawless last night ... 6/10.

I was quite looking forward to seeing it, but it was a bit iffy in some regards. The focus of the film seems to drift as to who the main character is supposed to be, Jessica Chastain has three fifths of sod all to do in the movie beyond shagging a mumbling Tom Hardy, and it just felt a bit disappointing. Plenty of mood and some stand out moments of violence, but I was a bit let down by it. From the same director who did "The Road" (which I thought was rather good, hence why I was amped for this before seeing it) ... not awful by any means, a decent flick, but it could have been better.

    Summer of Sam - 8/10.

I've seen that movie several times, but not for many years now so it was cool to see it again and, oh, Mira Sorvino ... *bites knuckles*

"Tamara" 7/10 (Good) - Beleaguered plain jane unpopular geekette returns as undead supernatural avenger hottie through the power of witchcraft. Standard high school revenge slasher stuff, but fun.

"All Cheerleaders Die" 8/10 (Great) - Beleaguered plain jane unpopular geekette becomes hottie cheerleader to inflict revenge from the inside, THEN she & the other cheerleaders return as undead supernatural avenger hotties through the power of witchcraft.

More high school revenge stuff, but played with a comedic element & some heart. The movie is bat shit crazy. Cheerleaders. Goth chicks. Lesbians. Flying glowing crystal "witchcraft". This thing, by all rights, shouldn't work, yet totally does.

Lucky McKee, you magnificent bastard, I watched your movie.

    Interstellar = 7.5/10
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
