No, we are bitching about people illegally immigrating here.

No the real irony is that the English people judge us, when it was actually THEM who were wiping out the native Americans here since the 1600s. We (Americans) didn't get into it until close to the 1800s. Remember before 1776, America was just an extension of England. All the slaughter of the Eastern Coast tribes happend under the British, Spanish and Dutch.

I went to a pretty average comprehensive, it had a reputation in near-by Hereford as being a school where you had to carry a knife to survive a day, but ironically, that's what we thought of Hereford comprehensives!

Similar to you it was a lot of talk, not that much action. There would be fights, oh yeah, but nothing major. Physically bullying did go on, but it wasn't something loads of people would see. I was both verbally and physically bullied for the first 3 years, afterwards it was just stoic intimidation and sneering (the ring leader, last I heard, works in a girl's clothes shop - haha, dickhead)...

Anyway, I remember there was this massive rumour mill going on after apparently a student in Year 8 or something tried to jump out a first story window in some kind of suicide attempt, but was held back by pupils/teacher...that was related to bullying, and was quite f*cked up - which was the precise reaction of the majority of students from all years - "damn, that's messed up".

So aye, lots of talk and not much action...*chuckles*...I do remember giving a girl several years higher up than me some lip - I can't remember the reason for our crossed paths being bitter, but I do remember this bit:

I said something as I was heading towards class to her after she bitched at me (she was built like a brick sh*t house as I remember - a Year 10 or 11 to my short-arse Year 7 or 8) and she said "oh yeah, come and say that to my face" ... so I stopped, did an about turn, strutted right up to her, looked right up into her face and repeated it with a big grin...needless to say she was stumped for something to say, so I chortled off with my mates to class.

In the Sixth Form you got jip, which I was disappointed at, as folk when I was coming up the ranks gave respect to Sixth Formers, so I was gutted to be getting jip from some little Year 7 imp using our snack machine...I remember getting jip for wearing a really loud shirt (it had a sunset on some pacific island or whatever ALL OVER IT), some smart arse made a sarky comment about it, so I hollered back "enjoying that uniform, are ya?", and again, that person was stumped, ha!

Anyway (again), all mahf an' nah trahzeez...

The rumours and legends were far worse than the actual place, there was the usual chunk of dickheads though, and aye - lots of school yard class politics:

Geeks, sporty types, slags, popular folk, thickos and then normal folk (I was in the last one).

The geeks are off doing their own thing, the sporty types are all fat and reliving their glory days that ended when they left school as they sit supping on beer in the pub, the slags are all burdoned with a shedload of kids, the popular folk are suddenly not so popular anymore (some have been given a rather harsh slap in the face in that respect - but they totally deserved it), thickos are either doleys doing f*ck all, or they're doing some sh*t job...normal folk...why, they're mostly all off doing interesting things, living their lives, travelling, getting further education, getting high paying jobs (well, at least relatively speaking! ) and enjoying life and what comes next, rather than sporty types and such whose lives ended after graduation.

Oh yeah, and school kids are idiots, all rumours and ignorance, it's hilarious really...

As though England's hands are clean when it came to the slaughter and theft of the land from the Native Americans.

1606-1776 = English Rule over the Eastern Coast of the New World with the exception of Florida. What do you think you guys were doing here within those 170 years? Living in peaceful coexistence with the Natives? I don't think so.

Of course, saying "you guys" is a bit daft, because it was people leaving Ireland and England etc that made up the new settlers of America, so really, (white) Americans and Brits are the same people.

Your totally right about how school was MZ,and how a lot of the old lot turn out!unfortunately i was at one of my old classmates funeral on friday,i hadnt seen him in 9 years, but still he was part of the gang at school so it was only right to go.Anyway, there were a lot of my old school mates there who i havent seen in years!and it was weird seeing how people had turned out!some with kids, some married with kids, some of the lads half bald (bearing in mind we're all only 24/25)some ones who were popular at school still hanging round their hometown, big fish in a little pond!me who was quiet, shy, weird & unfashionable, now well dressed, confident, quite well travelled & popular!barely recognisable to some of them!it was still good to meet up & reminisce though, shame about the circumstances

Damn man, sorry to hear about your mate.

I too look forward to getting back and reminiscing, but of course under normal circumstances.

I don't see much of the old gang these days, which is a shame, but I keep in contact via FaceBook and email and get to see some of them now and then (often when filming)...

It really is fun to look back and remember things "ah f*ckin' hell!" is a common expression, like recently I said it to myself when I remembered a short lived trend amongst the lads in about Year 11 when I was in high school, what craze? Well:

You'd wrap one hand around your wrist/arm and squeeze as tight as possible and then pump your hand in/out of a fist to pump your veins up and see how large you could make them ... it was hilarious, we'd waste so much time in English doing that, ha! I can't believe that was a fad, but it was...I bet the girls thought all the lads doing it were complete numpties.

yeah its weird to see freinds you havent seen since school its only been 2 or 3 years for me but damn it was surprising, one of the most popular blokes was essentialy the ginger christian handyman from ideal, another was a girl who was literally the wallflower girl from teen comedys, hidden behind giant glasses shy never spoke up, saw her a week ago, pink hair, loud and wway mor eoutgoing....though turned out she discovered since school she was a lesbian so that might have had somethign to do with it, other people turned out exactly like youd think, the ones that treid to push you into smokeing a fag behind the bike sheds and talked abotu drugs are now all doleys in track suits with nowere to go, essentially trapped in there own life, one even has two kids by two different girls, one is 16 and still at school
Though i wonder what they think of me?, i was the class clown (still am) but i had short hair, like a cm long for like 7 years, never listened to music or anything and never really had anywere i wanted my life to head, now im a long haired hippie/metal type with a dream to entertain the masses with my movies and one of the few people i know who whent to college, adn considering i was one of the dumbest people in my group thats a bit depressing.

Not true at all, much of the killing was done by British troops. And White Americans can run the gambit from Irish, Italian to Swedes.

I speak English because my Italian immigrant family learned it when they came over after world war 2. That still doesn't change the fact that most of the Indian massacring was done by the British, in the name of Britain up until 1776.

amen to that, we should all just move on instead of blaming each other for something our ancestors of which we all never got to know are responsible for. nothing like a fresh start.

Hear hear. I didn't mean to bring up the English role in murdering Indians (dots and feathers) until I saw someone else mention it about Americans doing the same.

As opposed to immigrating the good ol' legal colonization way?

I have always thought of the English (the United Kingdom in fact) as brothers and sisters; it probably helps I am Irish, English and Scottish (with a touch of Dutch and Italian mixed in)

But I never think of the Dutch nor the Italians as closeely tied.
