What horror franchise do you think should not have had any sequels?

Hey, all of you dissing on "A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors" can kiss my athlete's foot on my toes! The best Freddy flick with the most awesome soundtrack to any 80's film... We're the dream warriors, yeah, maybe tonight you'll be gone! DOKKEN RULES!!! j.p. Holy shit man! We agree on something. I actually revere parts 1-3. Although the 2nd is considered the bastard stepchild of the series i like it alot precisely because it's not like the others. Most long running franchises have one film like that. And no mention of Friday the 13th? So is that to say everyone thinks the sequels are hunky dory?

Halloween (10 films, 1978-2009) - $367m A Nightmare On Elm Street (nine films, 1984-2009) - $447m Friday the 13th (12 films, 1980-2009) - $465m Scream (three films, 1996-2000) - $507m Saw (six films, 2004-2009) - $733m It makes me sick that Saw, that shitty torture-porn crap-fest, as made more money than the others on that list. Unreal... I find it interesting that Scream has less films than the others and is 2nd in line as far as $... wow. And no mention of Friday the 13th? So is that to say everyone thinks the sequels are hunky dory? I liked Parts 1-3, am 50/50 on part 4, and the rest were complete utter wastes of time.

Night of the Living Dead *'68*. Nuff said. Eh, I liked "Return of the Living Dead 1+2" as sequels. ("Return 2" even more than "Return 1"). "Return 3" is worth watching too after a 12-pack. The rest are absolute garbage though. j.p.

Yeah, I saw someone mentioned them after I posted and definitely agree. The first was well done, fun in a gritty nail-biting sort of way, but the follow ups were... Exactly. The first was nicely packaged little thriller, but the sequels are what really gave it the "torture porn" label. Now I hear that the next installment is 3D. "This time the traps come to life!"

I liked Parts 1-3, am 50/50 on part 4, and the rest were complete utter wastes of time. No way, Lou! Part 7 was the best: "Jason Vs. Carrie". Okay, okay... maybe it's not a "great" film -- but it sure is fun. I always get a kick out of it. Jason actually met his match when he started messing with a chic with ESP/telekinesis on the rag. It should be a warning to all men everywhere. j.p.

I'll respond to some people's responses...*ahem* 1) Tremors 2 through 4?! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?! Tremors 2 kicks ass. The first is the best, natch, but Tremors 2 is a hella fun ride with new stuff added into the mix, and a hell of an awesome chunk of Burt Gummer. Tremors 3 is, unfortunately, too low budget. You can really tell they had barely any time to film it, and not being on film didn't help, plus low grade CGI ... but, again, the Burt Gummer stuff is awesome fun. Tremors 4 ... I hated it originally, then years later (this year) I re-watched it, and it's a beautifully shot movie, with good acting and actors, and a budget worthy of the project. Truthfully the movie has little point, it's just Tremors 1 all over again, but a century earlier and doesn't really bring anything new to the table ... and we're cheated out of Burt Gummer action ... but on it's own, it's a good flick. ... 2) Saw 2 through 6 (and 7 comes out in October ... in 3D) I love the original movie - it's a great indie flick, and was a breath of fresh air to the genre ... it's just a shame it has become a literal killing machine. Saw 2 was okay, but kinda iffy ... the stuff that played on the first movie was good though. Saw 3 was better than #2, and again the stuff that brought the first two movies all together was good - and really it should have ended on 3. Saw 4 was pish. Saw 5 was also pish - a load of swooshily edited nonsense that's utterly indecipheral. Saw 6 - I've still not seen it, but I will when it shows on Sky Movies, likewise for Saw 7 (which is - apparently - going to be the last one ). ... 3) Friday 13th 2 through 10 Part 2 kicks ass, Part 3 is a tad iffy but has many awesome parts, and Part 4 is the best of the sequels (no idea how Lou can be 50/50 on it ... are you high, dude?!) Part 5 was rubbish ... but there were two fitties in it, so that's something. Part 6 was a hell of a lot of fun, Part 7 was a bit iffy - and unmercifully censored and softened down - but Jason rocks balls throughout the entire flick and it's the best Jason on screen in my opinion. Part 8, again, unmercifully censored and softened, but Jason is still awesome strutting around that boat - and then the final act being in New York kicks ass ... plus "The Darkest Side of the Night" is an awesome track. Part 9 was crap. Hated it when I first saw it, still hate it now. Part 10 - loved it when I first saw it, but now it's too campy ... even if it is an interesting take on the franchise ... but yeah, too campy all-said-and-done. Waaaay too campy. ... 4) Halloween 2 through 8 Part 2 was cool, not up to the first flick's standard, but it was a good companion piece alright. Part 3 is actually a ruddy good 80s flick on its own terms. Part 4 and 5 were ruddy crap and the mask was worse, Part 6 was retarded. Part 7 was at least interesting plot wise, but even still it was a Scream clone and was too trendy for its own good. Part 8 was nothing but franchise rape. Ghastly.
