I've just found out on IGN that first photo in the maintainance tunnel is dated february 2006 so it's a pre game release image.
Here's a better example of the point I am trying to make, in the North Plaza, if you leave the grocery store and head for the hunting shack, you may walk into a unfinished store and take a safer route where four zombie mall cops are. You'll notice they are 'drawn' in, like they 'fade' into view. That's how they make it seem like there's so many in an area there's the ones where your at but keep moving and more will be drawn in ahead of you while the ones behind will be deleted then reappear when you backtrack.
This is the trick I expect the Wii version to do though the draw distance would be less. It was suggested on Allspark that they could do the distant ones as pixels and when you get near they become zombies.
According to Nintendo Power the developers have managed to get a hundred zombies around Frank, not bad considering how detailed (at least for the Wii) they look.

    Chop til you drop?

SAN MATEO, Calif. — July 21, 2008 — Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced that Dead Rising™: Chop Till You Drop is in development for the Wii™ home video game system. Based on the critically acclaimed Dead Rising™, which has sold in excess of one million units since its release in 2006, Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop is scheduled to hit store shelves this Winter.

Taking advantage of the same proven technology that brought Resident Evil® 4 so successfully to Wii, Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop delivers a more immersive, intuitive and interactive experience as players use the Wii Remote to shoot, slash and bludgeon their way through a zombie infested shopping mall, fighting for survival.

Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop follows the harrowing tale of Frank West, an overly zealous freelance journalist on a hunt for the scoop of a lifetime. In pursuit of a juicy lead, he makes his way to the small suburban town of Willamette only to find that it has become overrun by zombies. Frank escapes to the local shopping mall, thinking it will be a bastion of safety but it turns out to be anything but. It will be a true struggle to survive the endless stream of enemies, but players will have full reign of a realistic shopping centre and its varied stores offering an endless supply of real and makeshift weapons to fight off the flesh-hungry mob. If Frank is running low on health he can pay a visit to one of the many restaurants or cafes for a meal in order to restore his energy and continue the fight.

The game is split into a series of individual cases, all of which Frank must complete in order to gain vital information that will allow him to piece together the truth behind the horrendous epidemic. In addition to the cases, players will be faced with the dilemma of deciding the rescue priority of the residents of Wilamette who also sought sanctuary in the mall. Depending on the player’s skill, some may not be so fortunate as each rescue needs to be undertaken in a set time period, therefore players may need to delay completion of a case in order to save a fellow human.

Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop’s infectious humor delivers some welcome relief from the incessant tide of zombies with players able to dress Frank up in a variety of comedic costumes and take on the undead hordes with a selection of improvised and sometimes highly ineffective weapons such as a toy sword or a football.

Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop includes the following features:
    • Utilizes the same engine as Resident Evil 4 Wii edition.
    • New level of interaction – aim and fire guns, swing and throw weapons and shake off zombie attacks with added Wii Remote functionality
    • Huge environment – expansive indoor and outdoor areas of the mall provide a variety of different locations to explore
    • Improved save functionality allows for more seamless gameplay
    • Hoards of enemies on screen at once resulting in non-stop, pulse-pounding action
    • Anything in the mall is at Frank’s disposal
    • Grab environmental objects like umbrellas and benches to use as improvised weapons
    • Snatch items from different stores to use as weapons including golf clubs, lawnmowers, frying pans and more
    • Consume food and drink to revive health

2 Screenshots above, as predicted graphics look pretty poor to me..

    -Superior Grafics
Notice the "-" symbol, hence the whole equation motif he was going for.

You mean by model design or detail?

They look like they use the same amount of polys as a average build Ganados, they are aiming to get a hundred in there.
I guess Adam (clown) will be Doctor Salvador and Jo (fat lady cop) will be JJ. It's got to be said, they have got the Mall close, surprising since it all had to be rebuilt with the RE4 engine.

I reckon they should definitely work on the rancoat cultists and special forces AI, make them function like RE4s Ganados and give the special forces handguns, rocket launchers and grenades for higher difficulty settings.

Next big N console, something like a HDWii, they should really aim for a CPU and GPU that is upwards of the current Hollywood and Broadway chips but allows for full backwards compatability like they do on the Wii, and keep costs low.

The previews are on every games site due to the demo at the german convention. I really hope this is a Beta because it looks like a early PS2 game. It's got hideous textures, crappier effects, there's been a ton of complaints on forums on many sites, even the team making House of the Dead Overkill commented on it.
You can find the videos, the gampley trailer and debut trailer on Youtube and find high res versions on 1up but they only show how ugly it is.

What I am surprised at is the inclusion of zombie animals, it seems they are making full use of the RE4 engine, though their baseball bat/katana weapon controls leave alot to be desired.

Yeah, but isn't that to be expected seeing as how the Wii is not as advanced as the 360 and PS3?

The Wii version should have a few cuts in it's visuals but it's looking far worse then it should be, for example the particle effects such as the blood splatter look like something from a PSone Resi, the circle shadow is also unseen since the PSone era of consoles, there's no reason they can't have real time shadows, motion blur or better blood splatter and other effects seen in the 360 version, in the Wii version, the only reason can be developer laziness.
There's been examples of Gamecube, X-box and Playstation 2 games handling alot of stuff in the players vicinity, the ten low res zombies in the Wii demos causing slowdown just takes the absolute pee when you look at stuff like Neo versus a army of Smiths in The Matrix: Path of Neo or 128 Marios doing different things in the 128 Marios demo.

Graphical differences aside, that was quite a decent review.

Duno about the rest of you, I thought it looked naff, all that wobbly target flobbling about the screen, the decreased scope of it all, it looked just naff to me. I'll be sticking with proper Dead Rising 360 thank you very much.

The mall was said to be the same and the side missions are now part of the game. What did you mean by decreased scope, specifically?

I farted around w/ the 360 game for a day or two and honestly I got pretty bored with it. If this Wii edition is closer to RE4 then I consider that a good thing. I like a random exploration game as much as the next guy but I could use a little more structure for a zombie game.
