^^ Only 6? I quite enjoyed Edge Of Tomorrow...
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. I'm not really a fan of sci-fi or Tom Cruise.

"VHS" 8/10 (Great) - Found footage anthology. A concept than shouldn't work. It does, rather excellently. Most of the installments were good-to-decent ("The Second Honeymoon" was the only one that felt pointless IMO, with "Amateur Night" & "Tuesday the 17th" being my favorites).

"Almost Human" 7/10 (Good) - "The Thing" + "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" meets "The Hidden" with shades of "The Terminator". Simple retro 80's homage. Relentlessly splatter prone, but in an best & old fashioned sort of way. Not much of a story per se & an ending too abrupt & slightly unsatisfying, but well worth a look if old school is your thing.

"Don't Blink" 1/10 (Awful) - Great premise, nice execution, good mystery elements, decent cast. Put me in the mind of "The Mist" or Dean Koontz's "Phantoms". Should have been an easy 6-8. But the ending was so anti-climactic & lacking in payoff or resolution that I was THOROUGHLY pissed. I don't mind things being left somewhat vague or ambiguous, but you have to give viewers enough information to make a guess or form an opinion.

    ^ GotG - 7/10?

I'll agree the plot was pretty poor, but I felt it completely got over that with a great feel good vibe

I'm not into all the marvel type films, i watched it with the kids. It is a funny film, excellent effects, but i struggle to watch pg or 12 rated films.

That movie was one of the biggest pieces of crappity crap I've ever seen. A rating of 1 is wayyyyyy too kind.

As Above, So Below: Surprisingly good. Very creepy at the end.
St. Vincent: Also really good. Wife and daughter were teary eyed at the end.

To be fair to them, they do kind of acknowledge the whole macguffin aspect of the orb thingy (specific reference to The Maltese Falcon - perhaps the most macguffiny macguffins that ever macguffined ). The plot is really just a straight forward thing to hang the best parts of the film off of - the characters, the action, the fun.

I just watched The Guardians of the Galaxy this afternoon and really rather enjoyed it. Jolly good fun, but also with some surprisingly emotional depths throughout. 8/10.

Great depiction of drug use. Some plot threads are left unresolved, tho. 3/5

Ace. I'm a sucker for sad animated films about talking animals. This one was great, but they should have made the ending less upbeat 4/5.

Agreed Ronny, the only reason it got a 1 was because it did raise a chuckle or two with the sketch involving Hugh Jackman and Kate Winslet. But the entire thing, overall, was a lamentable, juvenile, jaunt of the worst proportions. The most fascinating thing about the film is the fact that they got so many A list stars to be in it. Did nobody read the script? I'd be having some serious words with my agent after that.
