While San Andreas has the scope, it didn't have the story, nor the sheer fun of Vice City. Vice City had a fantastic soundtrack, it was vibrant, it was enjoyable, the story was interesting (so much so I replayed it through a few times). I've only been through San Andreas once and only just recently replayed the bit after getting your pilot's license again, and it just wasn't that interesting, just something to fill the gap whilst I was waiting for STALKER to turn up...

The scope of San Andreas, plus the story, vibrancy and sheer fun of Vice City - that's what you want.

Interestingly, did anyone see that New York official types are up in arms about the setting being New York? I wonder where else they might have in the game, surely they're going the suburbs, like Queens - ooh, perhaps they'll have Long Island - like they whole thing, that'd be cool. Maybe you could drop by on the Griffins or the Barones...

im currently replaying through vice city lately (gotta do the mission to rexcue lance form diaz's men at the junkyard) and i gotta say, though i miss the jumping abilities of c.j compared to tommy's gimpy "cant get over a 2 foot wall butt thrust jump" vice city is efinatley the better game.
at least in my opinion it is.

I don't want to play Liberty City, I'm sorry, accuse me of being a c**t if you wish but I was hoping for some serious blowaway material man.

I just wanted it to be set in the 1970s, that would have pwned all over our faces...

(I wonder if that will become someone's sig quote? ... or this even ... )

While not as grumpy about it as I was when I first watched the trailer, I'm still disappointed. I'll say it again, a 30 day countdown to a 53 second trailer (not including slow-ass text for bulk) was retarded.

The 70's would be kind of cool, but at the same time there isnt a huge variety of quality vehicles that i'd like to drive from that period. The city looks awesome in that trailer,it'll be quite interesting when you know the layout of the place, but everything is super fleshed out so hardly recognisable!i reckon they'll make the city a lot bigger as well, cos when you complete GTA3 and then have a drive round, its actually quite a small place

Although San Andreas was quite big, I'd like even bigger, hopefully GTA4 affords us such an opportunity, as well as none of those lame dance/remote control/learn to fly type missions - THOSE SUCKED A HUGE FAT TURD RIGHT OUT THE ASS...

Graphic words, but those missions did do that very action...

The only one i really enjoyed on GTA3 was trying to fly the dodo over the sea, that was amusing and it wasnt a mission either so you didnt have to do it!

    lol Tricky.

It'd be so much better if the protagonist either already has a pilot's license etc, or you watch them in a pre-rendered video achieve one. Because players of GTA have already gained the skills in previous entries, why do we need to keep regaining them?

Also - in San Andreas, why does your driving skill start at piss-poor and then gradually goes up. CJ was like what, mid-twenties, surely he already knows how to drive!

Hopefully we don't get any of that shiite in the new GTA, because those sort of missions were just REALLY LAME and just got in the way of having fun.
