    The Sixth Sense - 4/5
A tad overstated through its twist ending back in the day but a fine spooky film in its own right.

Terminator Genisys, 3/5. It's Ok! But films these days focus way to much on action and special effects. The earlier Terminator films had a greater focus on suspense, details and melodramatics. I prefer the older way of making action films, to be honest. I enjoyed seeing so much of Arnold tho.

Ironclad, 3/5. James Purefoy as a Knights Templar fights off a siege by Paul Giamatti as evil King John who chews up the scenery in his typical manner. There premise of this film, with all of it's actors (Brian Cox is in it too, as a good guy believe it or not) and over-the-top violence, I'm surprised they didn't try to make it more comedic. It could've been a hit if they'd just played up the humour. As it stands now, it's bland for much the same reasons as Terminator - the focus isn't on the drama or characters, it's on the endless and bloody siege. Even so.. It's fun seeing a good film about Knights once in awhile.

    JFK - 8/10

I'd seen it years ago, so this was a second viewing.

It's compelling stuff, and is convincing in what it says - regardless of whether much of it is actually true or not - which is a strength as much as a weakness. Undeniably there's something fishy going on with the truth of the assassination, but to what extent and in what way is entirely up in the air (the film provides no answers, and what truths are in the mix are rendered questionable by the fiction and interpretation). The epic court scene in the latter third of the movie is superbly put together, although you sit there going 'why is nobody objecting to all of this wide-of-the-topic, wild theorising in a trial that's supposed to be about Clay Shaw?'

Apparently some documents will be released in 2017 (as well as 2029), so what they'll be, and what they'll show (if anything) will be interesting to see. The movie is a wonderful conspiracy thriller - although it's so vast, so convoluted (e.g. the Donald Sutherland scene) that you can't take it seriously. A fascinating 'alternative universe' tale of 'true-fiction', if you will ... but it does capture the dark underbelly element of 1960s America quite well - the scarring of the national psyche.

    Enlightening and gruelling drama...

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
