    Gremlins 2: The New Batch

While obviously inferior to the original film, I've always had a soft spot for this goofy sequel. Joe Dante wanted to make a different film from the original and he succeeded with a light hearted giggle-fest. Reminds me of Hooper's transition from the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre to it's sequel, which also works quite well. Having not seen the film in quite some time, I was also shocked at just how many references there are to classic horror films.

Ouch. When I was a kid I sorta felt that way, as the sequel had an upbeat ending & the humans win. But the dark & punk rock vibe of the original, & even the downbeat ending, won me over in the end.

The 2nd is a good larf though.

I think thats what i like about it, the humor in it, also i seen number 2 before i seen the 1st one when i was a kid so it kinda stuck with me as my favourite. I really like number 3 as well although its different from 1st 2. Number 4 & 5 are a bit shit though.

Battle of the Damned - 3/10

Bland characters, generic story, weird pacing, the 'shades of brown' visuals got dull after a while, Lungdren seems to be hobbling on bad knees throughout the entire film, the 'zombies' are just a bunch of running screaming extras with a bit of paint on their faces and some scruffy clobber on ... things just seem to happen, but not in a particularly interesting way. You'd have thought Dolph+Zombies+Robots would be fun, but it's not, which is a shame.

What would you give the first one for reference?
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Oh, 8, 8.5. possibly close to a 9 even. I thought it was one of the best films of its type. Very grim and hopeless. The way it should be. I'd easily recommend it.
