    Two Galactica questions...

    1) When's the new series starting (in the US)?
    2) The special webisodes - I couldn't watch those in the UK for some reason. Are they available for download (eg: torrent)? Are they worth watching?
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. New season started with a 2 hour episode on Friday Oct 6th. The ten webisodes deal with the human resistance backstory on New Caprica. I'd guess they will eventually appear on the UK scifi website and the season 3 DVD.

There are a few good episodes from the original Battlestar Galatica series (Saga of a Star World, Gun on Ice Planet Zero, The Living Legend). Most of the rest are marginal at best.

Galactica:1980 is really bad, perfect example how budget cuts and network interference can completely screw up a tv series. The Return of Starbuck episode is the only one worth watching.

Any more opinions on season 3 so far?

Sometimes I think memories of the old galactica are better then the show itself.
Galactica and it's rattag fleet cross galaxies - at sublight speeds.
Boxy has a mechanical daggit - a animal supposed to be a dog but acts like a monkey due to the chimp they shoved in there.
Galactica discovers a planet called Terra with two super powers capable of space travel but still launch nukes from silos.
Every week they find a human civilisation and leave them behind while fleeing a enemy bent on exterminating humans.
Starbuck finds himself on a prison colony which has had no outside contact for 1000 years despite the fact they still have workable space craft and in the end he gets a hint they picked up a human from Earth even though Earth is in the late sixties.
Galactica recieves a transmission of the Apollo moon landings (1969) and thirty years later finds Earth in the year 1980.
The Cylon Imperius leader calls for Baltar to offer peace with the humans then gives him three baseships armed with cannons, fighters and centurions and he hunts them down.
Galactica finds a alien casino on a barren planet and underneath it are giant bugs who lay eggs in humans.
To run a test to find out Starbucks father they need to take brain matter.
A super gun fires upon the fleet and misses at every opportunity causing explosions.
The council is always weak and makes bad decisions.

And all they can criticise the new one for is because its got a different theme - and because Starbucks a woman.

Much better than I would have thought, considering how much I disliked the way season 2 ended.

2nd episode of the season is the first of a 2 story arc. The second of which is looking to be a scifi equivalent of Braveheart. I'm having fun with it.

Apologies to all those who have just bought the original box set and not seen it yet.

Opinions with no spoilers-we're going to see a lot of character development with Kara, Sharon, Baltar, and Tigh.

I'm liking the new season so far.

I was watching Saga of a Starworld the other week and it boggles the mind why after a 1000 years of war the colonials would send their last fleet of battlestars to the Cylon capital instead of one peace envoy. They send their best admirals, war heroes, their president end entire government and are surprised when it turns out to be a trap, the Cylons send in a thousand fighters concealed in a Nebula on the route and Galactica flees the battle to discover the Cylons sent basestars to destroy the colonies.
With tactics like that one wonders how they survived.

I still like the original series but as with most sci fi from the time can't help but pick them to pieces for some story logic, rules and science.

This season bar none, has been the best so far. Eps 1-3 have been just sheer build-up, and i suspect ep 4 is going to be just amazing.

I got a feeling new Galactica is doomed. NBC is being restructured and Galactica's ratings went down 11% for Exodus part 1. Might not sound like much and there's been a promise of at least two more seasons but then this happened with Farscape and that was canceled for a 2% drop.

On the other hand Galactica jumped the shark with this whole occupation storyline, you know they'll be back in space soon and facing the exact same situation once more.

that may well be, but after your post over in the games froum about the Ps3 selling just beacuse it's cool, and computer games dying off. i'm holding your views with less concern.

Galactica is still higly rated and making NBC and SCIFI a ton of money. further, considering the All of friday's viewer numbers were down, your 11% loss is less than scary.

    EDIT

Exodus part II runs tonight, anyone wanna offer prdictions?

i'm thinking they loose Hera to the cylons, and the Pegasus may not make it out of the fight (i'm assuming they join it).

I'm hoping this whole Boomer promotion works out. For F's sake, she can be activated!

Shows get cancelled for idiotic reasons all the time. Apparently, Blade the series was cancelled because of an unexpected female audience. Monster House was cancelled on Discovery because it had too many viewers, and was taking viewers away from their other networks. NBC needs to grow a pair and toss this on thier Friday night line up.
