    Godzilla vs. Kong (film)

How did Kong get so big?

    And the trailer being mocked...

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Wasn't Kong massive like that in Kong: Skull Island, though? He was swatting Hueys out of the sky like they were wasps.

It's not the Kong of Peter Jackson's film.

The second Godzilla movie was alright, good action, but a bit too much waffle with the people. Sure, you need some, and just a load of shit smashing about would be boring as hell after a short time, but the 2014 Godzilla movie was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too coy about using Godzilla. It's a feckin' monster movie! SHOW ME THE MONSTER!

You do need human characters to get the information across and have someone to connect to, but they're only support for the star of the show: THE MONSTER!

I love the idea of Godzilla but most of the films I've seen with him are pretty bad. The 2014 film was poor.
Haven't seen King of the Monsters (because the 2014 film sucked) or Kong Island - or any other Kong for that matter.

So far I think the best Godzilla film is either the original, which goes full horror and terror, or the '98 one which manages to nail the emotional aspect of it and cast a grey moral shadow over the whole thing.

Haven't seen any other Japanese ones but don't think I'd like them. The model work looks dumb.

King of the Monsters had much more monster stuff in it, but there was still a fair bit of human stuff with humans who weren't especially interesting.

Kong: Skull Island was a fun ride, a Vietnam-era discovery of Kong's world. It had a fair bit of action and spectacle and I would watch it again sometime. There's even a sly little reference to Cannibal Holocaust in there with one of the kills.

While Godzilla 2014 could have done with more monsters, it didn't help King of the Monsters be any better, cos that film was utter shit. Likewise for Kong Island. That was pants too. In fact, the 2014 film was probably the best out of the three, irrespective of its lack of Godzilla...
