    Midsommar (film)

Came out a couple of years ago, but seems to be getting some good reviews?

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Dude, where you've been?

    This film is from 2019.

Anyway, it's arthouse horror. Pretty to look at and thematically strong but weak characters and no suspense.

Some good scenes. Unique setting. However the entire third act is more of a montage than any actual plotting. The main character becomes completely passive by the end and just goes along for the ride, which makes my engagement in her plight very low.

I enjoyed this. It’s not as good as Hereditary before it, but still worth a viewing. Several VERY memorable set pieces, it just doesn’t come together quite as well as his previous film.
