From his web site, it looks like he actually served in the European theater in WW2 (and insinuates that he served on a ship where a Jewish doctor killed a German POW with morphine to steal his crucifix and uniform buttons or something like that). It seems that his anti-Semitism got started back in the late '30s or early '40s when one of his buddies who was in the Army borrowed an officer's car, they trashed it (allegedly the brakes malfunctioned), and the officer's father (who happened to be Jewish) insisted that they pay for the damage.
