    A legal zombie?

    http://www.cnn.com/2013/10/09/us/ohi...tml?hpt=hp_bn1

This guy went missing several years ago, so his family had him declared dead. Now he has shown up again and went to court to get the death ruling reversed, so that he can get a job, reinstate his driver's license, etc. But the judge ruled that state law prohibits changes to death rulings after three years, so he waited too long to challenge the ruling. Therefore, he is still legally dead, and has been since 1994, though he is up and walking around just like all of us living people.

If he's legally dead (and presumably no longer subject to the rule of law), he should pull off a multimillion dollar heist. The courts have decided that he no longer exists so technically no crime would have been committed! That would be a very interesting court case...

And what if someone now killed him? What could they be charged with?
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Technically, dead people cannot be tried as they cannot enter a plea.

However people have been tried and convicted in absentia, so I'm sure that there's a loophole available to exploit.
