They didn't say everything they needed to say with the three movies before? This is like the Matrix getting a third sequel. The premise has run it's course, time to let it die.

Even Depp admitted in an interview that the only reason he returned was for the truckload of cash they dumped at his front door...

Ahh... voodoo zeds! Need more of those in this day and age! So props!
As for more Pirates... no thanks. Kind of... over that, honestly... I mean, who do you think you are, having more than two sequels? Harry Potter?
    Ninjas are way better, anyway...

If this film doesn't have superhuman strength zombies who can sprint like Olympic gold medalists and can make physically impossible high-pitched screams from their throats with a killer post-punk soundtrack than I'm just not interested. Extra credit points if the zombies can climb on walls and ceilings.

Eh, Really liked the series, for the most part, wasn't crazy about all of the 3rd one. Ended on somewhat of a down note, but I it made sense & has a sort of epic/myth quality about it. Liked the overarching story overall, loved the characters of Jack Sparrow & Barbosa & all the rest. Not sure how I feel about a 4th, particularly w/ Bloom & Knightly out. I feel like it might have been better to make it a trilogy & leave it alone, but eh, not too fussed. I'm sure I'll end up seeing it at some point, for the kids sake if for no other reason.

I've got all three on DVD, and I enjoy them for what they are, but there's no denying that 2 and 3 (especially 3) were over-long, bloated, and at times all over the place. So hopefully this fourth will get back to the essence of it all and be more like the first movie ... but I really don't know if it will. We'll see, I guess.

Uhm. I don't think so. The first one was good, but not great. It was a fun summer adventure that did not need, or deserve, two sequels. And what sequels they were. Utter, complete trash. Okay, not utter trash... But what annoyed me the most about them was that a secondary character in the first film (Jack Sparrow) got turned into the center of attention. Now he looks as if he's in ever scene. Jack Sparrow is not cool. Jack Sparrow is fucking annoying.

Apparently the book this film is based on was optioned way back at the start of the franchise and is supposedly a decent one. Who knows.

The film can't be worse than the third in the franchise.

Hmmm ... don't fancy any spoilers. Anyone care to offer the jist of why AICN don't like it? And not a jokey response. I'm actually interested.

They're basically saying it's a soulless for-profit, cash grab. Uninspired. Poor screenplay, mailed in performance by Depp over the top performances by a few others etc.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES is an embarrassment on every level for Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer...

AICN is as often fanboyish and shallow as they are insightful and dead on in their reviews, they said good films suck and bad films are glorious before. ill reserve my judgement till i see it.
