    The Walking Dead discussion

Does anybody know when volume 5 is coming out? Seems a bit rediculous how much it keeps getting pushed back.

    While I'm on the topic...

I've had volumes 1 & 2 since they first came out. My friend works at a bookstore and I just introduced him to them so, naturally, he stole me volumes 3 & 4. Yesterday I went back and read the first two from start to finish to refresh my memory (very glad I did with so many damn characters). I'm half-way through volume 3 and it's freakin amazing. So hard to put down.

    SPOILER!

Was anybody completely shocked when Tyreese's daughter was shot by her boyfriend? I didn't think that's what they were planning on doing when they always talked about "doing it". I figured they were either going to kill one of the group or just run away.

Also completely just like when Tyreese ran into the center of the crowd of zombies in the gym and was left behind by Glenn and them... only to find out the next day that he defeated them all and lived!

Seriously, those of you that haven't read this yet.... BUY EVERYTHING YOU CAN!!! No matter what, this is my favorite comic series I've ever read. Even if I weren't into horror comics and trade books, I'd still thoroughly enjoy this. It's like watching a very long, epic zombie film that I've pretty much always dreamed of.

Man, i freaking love this comic - it's great!

As far as Tyreese's daughter goes,

That looked to be a suicide pact gone wrong.

It's a great series. My only gripe with it is that the quality of the artwork slipped a notch when Tony Moore left the series, don't get me wrong, it's still great just not as good.

Yeah, I knew that's what it was... it was just completely unexpected.

Wouldn't call it a drop in quality, just less detailed and a unique style.

As much as I liked the detailed and polished style Tony Moore brought to the first six issues of the series, I actually think Charlie Adlard's artwork with its rougher style seems more appropriate for the subject matter. Adlard's artwork also has more of a kinetic sense of movement to them while Moore's seemed more like screenshots.

I guess it's just a matter of personal preference.. The Adlard and Rathburn stuff works well and still manages to maintain the overall tone of the work.

I'm way behind on this. The last issue I read was the one where the guys come into contact with the other group for the first time.

as for artists i aint good with names the only ones i remember are mignola and powell of hellboy and the goon buts thats only cus there my favourite comics and have each done art for each others.

i prefered the origional artists people but the new guys zombies are deifnatly cooler the zombie scenes in the origional were far too busy and bugged me a lttle.
but yeah i got the 1st trade and issue 18 on its realease day and no i got 7,8,9,17 in first printings and 19-thru-32 1st printings straight away cus i havent missed it since.

EXCEPT BLOODY ISSUE 22 ive never, NEVER seen this issue, i had to download a pdf just becuase its harder to find than the 1st issue of y the last man.

    Update:

I'm up to date til #31. I hope someone kills that Governor ****. I'm hard pressed to think of a comic character I've ever disliked as much as him.

I agree, except I am not so appreciative of Adlard. He can be confusing, use bad composition and draws faces practically indistinguishablly form each other. I also detest the way he draws the exaggerated tear ducts or whatever that part of the eye is called. The Moore art and the writing were equally excellent. But Now thw writing is what moves the book. Adlard is workman and has some good atmosphere but I really love tony Moore. It seems like the writing is padding out the books with more big panels and less content. Which sucks because it takes a billion years for the next book to come out.
Thats not to say I don't love the Walking Dead. Its my Favorite book by a hundred miles.

Anybody else find that very few comic shops carry the monthly book? Getting that is murder and I live in NYC for christs sakes!

I'm looking to subcribe (I live out in the sticks, no comic shop) and althought image doesn't do descriptions, does anyone know of any reliable online retailers that offer a pseudo-subscription?
I Corinthians 1:18-31 18For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 20Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 22For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 23But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 24But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. 25Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29That no flesh should glory in his presence. 30But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 31That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
