YES, The Towering Inferno comes to Blu-Gay

July 14th 2009, the disaster flick that defined disaster, The Towering Inferno hits Blu-Gay. This is one of my favorite so cheesy action disaster films, and I regularly watch my DVD version at least three times a year. So to know it will get an HD transfer is encouraging.

Cool. I just recently watched this on the tube. Classic.

BUT....this will hands down be the greatest Blu Ray ever..

The cover sucks though. 12 days and counting...

That cover does suck, why not use the original Black Poster art?

That's pretty much what every GB fan thinks. I guess sony wants it to "pop" and stand out on the shelves.

They're holding off on releasing GB2 for some reason. Hopefully it's because they're finally giving it the Special Edition treatment. And hopefully they're holding it off to add the upcoming documentary "Cleanin Up the Town: Remembering Ghostbusters"

What about Inferno? Any new features listed for the BR?

Whoa! That's a decent list of features there. Looks like this will be a definite purchase for me.

Hopefully the HD transfer comes through okay. I'm still a newbie with BR, but i've noticed that some older films don't fair too well with the format.

A lot of titles tend to use DNR to clean up the video, which people mistake for the HD like Picture when in actuality it actually robs the picture from its original intended source.

This is almost as cool as when I found out Where Eagles Dare had been released in DVD.

You're into this kind of thing.....know of any sites that list upcoming BR's and whether or not they're worth it?

One of the best transfers of an older film into the HD format I have ever watched was Blazing Saddles (HD-DVD Version) Man, what a fantastic job they did with that film.

Bullit even looks fantastic, same format (HD-DVD)

Some of the worst transfers I have seen:

    Saturday Night Fever (Blu-Ray)
Traffic (US HD-DVD) I hear import version is better
The Perfect Storm (BR and HD-DVD versions)
    T2 (Blu-Ray) Original Release
    Twister (HD-DVD and BR Release)
    Grease (BR)

Yeah, I am Kaos, For many reasons.

    1. The format was complete (unlike Blu-Ray which is still buggy)
    2. No region coding (Any HD-DVD from anywhere in the world played on your player, no hacking required.
    3. The red cases look better than those gay looking lite blu ones.
