O!M!G! - "Farewell Intercourse Law" - Well, she didn't say no!

Egyptian husbands will soon be legally allowed to have sex with their dead wives for up to six hours after their death, local media is claiming.

The controversial new law is claimed to be part of a raft of measures being introduced by the Islamist-dominated parliament.

It will also see the minimum age of marriage lowered to 14 and the ridding of women's rights of getting education and employment.
Once again, Islam proves it's not even quite read for the 20th century yet!
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Yeah, sounds like something everyone would want to do. I mean, there's nothing quite like sticking your member in something as cold as an ice cube, am I right?!

In a temperate climate a human body is usually still quite warm(ish) 6 hours after death. From all the reading I've done anyway...

Suuure... "all the reading" you've done, eh?

So, since it doesn't get cold within that 6 hour period, are you saying this whole idea is ok?

Aces, you're starting to really scare me, man! I'm starting to question your sanity.

That being said, you are indeed correct. According to HowStuffWorks.com: "Each hour, the body temperature falls about 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit (0.83 degrees Celsius) until it reaches room temperature."

    *shudders*

NO THANKS, even if you are still luke warm.

How did you make that leap? Talk about assuming the worst

dude, some islamic groups aren't even ready for the middle ages yet. there are fundamentalist islamic groups out there who believe that anything invented after the life of mohammed should be done away with and is basically "of the devil."

being an atheist is quite liberating and allows one to see this nonsense for exactly what it is: anti-human, anti-intellectual, anti-female, and complete garbage. that could be said of many of the world's religions. living in a country full of fundamentalist fools, a lot of my ire is directed more at christianity because many of those groups aren't ready for the 20th century either and i have to listen to their bullshit in public all the time.

I don't know about that. The imam who originated the idea said that what's halal for the goose is halal for the gander.

Typical sloppy National Equirer type trash that passes off for journalism these days.

Right at the beginning of the article it says "alleged proposals" and never names a person in the Egyptian parlaiment that introduced such law or links to actual documents.

The only references given keep pointing back to an Egyptian women's rights group that criticized statements made by a MOROCCAN CLERIC in 2011.

"The subject of a husband having sex with his dead wife arose in May 2011 when Moroccan cleric Zamzami Abdul Bari said marriage remains valid even after death.
He also said that women have the right to have sex with her dead husband."

By the way, Morocco isn't in Egypt, nor is it next to it. It is 2 countries away on the other side of the continent.

There are extremists in EVERY religion and just because one of them goes off and makes wild claims it does not mean they speak for the majority. These sensationalist stories are made too feed the hysteria of the willfuly ignorant.

how would a woman go about having sex with a dead man? since blood flow is required to make the willy go wonka, i think the assertion that women have the same right fails due to simple and inescapable facts of biology.

what, is someone going to be working a heart/lung machine to make the blood flow in order for the woman to have one last ride? simple blood flow isn't enough either. men have to get aroused and if there is a way to arouse a dead person...that's an image that would be hilarious if it weren't so damn gross.

and for f*ck's sake publius, only you could have me searching the frickin' intranets for the effect of rigor mortis on the penis. the consensus is that it has no effect since erections are vascular in nature. though i did find at least one medical source that suggested if a corpse was face down in death, lividity (the flow of bodily fluids to the lowest point for those of you not in the know) could result in an erection. thanks for the image and good afternoon to you too.

    ^^ lol

Oh, and the whole story is apparently a hoax. No such proposal even exists. Goes to show that when dealing with the islam people are willing to believe almost anything...

...Which in itself is understandable when dealing with people who believe that our reality was constructed and is being governed by a supernatural being called god.
