My Diary of the Dead *experience*...

Not a review, that'll come later, but a little blog about my going to see the film:

    http://deadshed.blogspot.com/2008/03...-dead-woo.html

My emotions throughout the film went as such:

    1) (prior to seeing it)
    2) (the film started)
    3) (the slack projectionist not doing his job properly)
    4) (rest of the movie, after the mild nuisance was solved)

Bummer you had to soldier on through a dodgy picture. Happened to me during Se7en, just as Kevin Spacey was handing himself in. Happened again through the Assault On Precinct 13 remake. Most irritating.

YESSS! When I came out of Yawn 04 some chick said "that was f**king cack compared to the original" to which I rushed right over and was all over her like a rash. In fact a few of us strangers headed over the road for a few pints and had one of the best horror debates ever. Man, I had foam coming from the side of my mouth from nattering so much. It's nice to encounter, old bean.

Ive seen that effect occur, i whent in a proper old tavern style alehouse a few months back, everyone in there looked like a cross between a biker and gimli and i was wearing a dawn of the dead shirt (origional mind ) and whilst my freinds ot pissed i had a good 2 hour descussion about how best to survive a countryside zombie apocalypse with random judas priest lookalikes.
good times were had by all.

Dude, that bit with the inattentive projectionist made you miss what was arguably one of the more entertaining sequences in the film. You are a true gentleman for not spitting in that dudes face, since I would have been angry in a major way!

I'll catch that 15 minute chunk un-f*cked-up on DVD. It was kinda like watching a 1.85:1 film cropped to 2.35:1 sorta...but I wanted to wait it out - or shout - rather than miss any of the film by running outside...so the other bloke did that, but he didn't really think much of the film.

I on the other hand dug it, so even with a bit chopped off at the bottom, I still got to see the awesome scythe bit just fine as the lazy bastard ran back and fixed the lens. I duno how it happened, seemed like the reel caught something for a split second, I duno...

I was also kinda surprised to see a few bits of damage on the reel - first or second show, on the FIRST day...what's that all about?

Anyway, it didn't dampen my experience too much, provided me with a story to tell. Now to wait till May 20th, eh...

    ...

A little photo montage to go along with this thread:
