Zach Snyder's Army of the Dead

I wasn't sure where to post this, but here's an update on Snyder's new flick. Before you start with the flames...I'll say that I really liked the Dawn remake and this is higher on my must see list than Diary of the Dead.

    I dunno,

this sounds like a really poor rip off of RE:3. I think the whole walling off of Vegas is stupid, plus move the location it has been done already. I wanna see Zack do another zombie film, not some hired on director. Do it yourself man... but please drop the merc's, and the vegas storyline.

Make it a bout a man and his daughter who get separated during the initial outbreak and he tries to make his way to safety camps in hopes of finding her, but in the mean time having to battle zombies and lawless mutherfukkas.

Wha? He's wanting to make the ultimate zombie film? WTF? Does he not realize that he directed a remake of the ultimate zombie film???

I have to agree with DJ. This is basically a combination of RE2 and RE3.

I've said this before, I think the "ultimate" zombie movie involves taking the show on the road. We've seen the barricade movie dozens of times now.

I have faith in this if Zach has nay say in it.

This guy kicked as s with DAWN 04 and 300. He is the real deal. But let's hope he gets the right helmer on board to realize his vision. I think the Vegas idea works and makes sense from a logistics standpoint.

Dawn 1978 is an epic film, but still so cheesy with it's blue zombies and absurd biker characters. I love it as a fan, but from a more objective viewpoint, it is a very poorly directed film, the action scenes are a joke and the low-budget evident.

Hey, I still like it, but it's still cheese.

Dawn was an alright action film, as was 300....but all the dude has in the talent department is visuals. Every other skill a director should have this guy lacks entirely. Just my opinion, of course. But 300 was just one big...."oohhh, look at that" with nothing else to support it.

And as for your opinion on the original Dawn. GET THE F*CK OFF THESE BOARDS!!!!

Just kidding, of course. As you said, it's not exactly a timeless film, but it will always be THE zombie film imo. Oddly enough, Day is actually my favorite of the series.....yet Dawn is the ultimate zed film. Go figure...

    Heh heh

Yes, my lack of Romerolove is appreciated here I am sure

Dawn 78; I like it, I really do (Day is the best for me!)

I agree with you on Zach; he isn't a master yet. He's only made 2 films, but jeez, not bad for 2 of them.

The only way Snyder can become a "master" of his craft is to start making his own films instead of ripping off other people's work.

    Let's do a head count:

1.Dawn of the Dead - George Romero's film
    2.300 - Frank Miller's comic
3.Watchmen(currently filming) - Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon's comic

When is this guy going to try something of his own that isn't an adaptation, I ask you?!?!? WHEN????

Fair comment. I liked Dawn 04 and what I have seen of 300 makes me want to buy the DVD.

And let's be fair and ballanced here, I saw more zombies on screen in Dawn 04 than I did in Land of the Dead...I expect to see thousands of the rotting bastards in his new flick. An endless sea of zombies alone would be worth the admission fee.

I guess. If you prefer visuals over substance, that's definitely what you'll get with this guy.

And why do people always have to compare Dawn and Land? Jebush....it's been 3-4 years now. Let's let it go. Pretty soon it would be like comparing Day and ROTLD because they were made in the same decade. They're two different films with two different objectives/meanings...

Why can't I have both? Is that really too much to ask in this age multi-million dollar movies?

Here's a thought, maybe Romero should write a dead script and let Snyder handle the visuals

Why not let Romero handle it all? I mean....at least he can do visuals as well as other aspects of film making. Not to mention that he doesn't need multi-million dollar studios to make a good film.

Bassman, putting aside weather folk liked or loathed Land...were you honestly satisfied with the amount of zombies in the movie?

It's no exageration to say that there were more in Day & Dawn (the originals).

I wasn't even referring to Land. I was talking about his other films. I think I said...."he doesn't need Multi-million dollar studios". I meant the originals.

But since you ask....yes. I was satisfied with the amount of zombie in Land. It was the small group of front-runners. It didn't need to be a large group.
