Well, I acquired a Super 8mm print of Dawn of the Dead (clip)

    Here is a screen shot...

    And here is a clip

You may or may not be able to tell but it is in Italian dialogue. It is the Argento cut and minus a few splices here and there, it is the whole effin' show on 6 reels. I felt like Peter Gammons in his basement watching black and white baseball films from the 1920s.

I have the option of re-recording the soundtrack, adding an english track that I'd have to put together from the DVD, but that is something I'd explore in the future.

I just thought I'd share my new find

A super 8? Isn't that really old fashioned? Like Thomas Edison would watch porn on those, back in the day?

Super 8 came out in 1965. 8mm probably came out at some point in the 1920s, and is mostly silent.

I was, of course, joking about Thomas Edison using Super 8's to watch his porn on. Or was I?

    LMAO! Awesome! Valid point too.

The first movie ever made was Edisons version of Frankenstein and the second movie was a porno!

Very cool and very retro. Reminds me of those Super 8 clips I would see ads for in magazines like Famous Monsters back in the 70s. I almost bought a Super 8 projector just so I could watch a few seconds of Star Wars at home. Jeez. Thank God I didn't.

Do it Max! Take your home theatre to the next level!

I'm thinking of getting into 16mm now. It is easier to find full features and the obvious, it looks better. Most films released on super 8 are digest versions (like the Star Wars you are talking about). From what I hear, some of the digest films are very well edited, and some include footage that wasn't in the actual film. For example, The Exorcist on super 8 (which only runs about 50-60 minutes) has footage that was never seen until that "Version You've Never Seen Before" came out.

Hey great pick up man seriously, those have to be in fairly short supply as a collectible and you have lots of fun options to explore with it.

That is something that I would love to have as an extra on a DVD or something. It wont mean much to casual fans but for us diehards it's like a diamond.

    Lucky bastard.

I know some dudes at originaltrilogy.com got the super 8 versions of STAR WARS and EMPIRE STRIKES BACK and actually did a telecine of them. They came out pretty good.

If you do sync the dvd audio to it, would you consider including the original italian audio as well?
