    Delorean going back into production!!

DMC Houston announced on July 30, 2007 that the car would be returning into very limited production (about 20 cars per year) in 2008. The newly produced cars will have a base price of $57,500 and have new stainless steel frames and lighter fiberglass underbodies, with optional extras such as GPS, an enhanced "Stage 2" engine, and possibly a new modern interior. The cars will be made with 80% old parts and the rest new.

Those wheels must be a nightmare to clean!
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Get alloy wheel cleaner (don't use on a windy day ... or get on your jeans ... or get on your skin) spray it all over, then blast off with a hose a minute later - job done.

I used to be a car valleter so I did all that stuff, but the wheel cleaner burnt through a pair of my thick work jeans, f*cked up the skin on my hands and I got a few specks in my eyes when it was windy and had to go wash them out. It's potent stuff ... but does the job proper good.

As for new DeLoreans - WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!

I hope they review them on Top Gear, that'd be awesome.

I so want one too, hey someone with money - buy me one! Of course, with all the time travel gubbins on is best, but I still dig the car without all that. I hope they put decent engines and door hydrolics and such in them...and brakes that work.

There are companies in the UK who modernise old cars and make them actually worked, again shown on Top Gear when James May took out an old Jag and it actually worked, Clarkson did the same with a DB5 and an E-Type.

I've never found it very effective...

Spray it on... Brush it around with a brush... Leave it... Hose it off, and there's still quite a lot of tar and mank stuck on places...

I own a car that looks similar to a Delorean. A 87 Plymouth Turismo AKA Dodge Charger. Same color the Deloreans were manufactured with, too.

Too bad it's a piece of shiv and I can't afford to fix it, so I am dead broke struggling to pay insurance for a car that just sits outside of my house and rots.

You've gotta spray it all over, be proper liberal with it (just imagine you've got a wife & kids, but visit a rent boy on the side whilst running for party leader and resigning yourself to the fact your party is the spare tyre of politics ).

You shouldn't brush with it though, just leave it to sizzle away and then blast that off. A pressure washer thingymabob is also a good idea.

Any left over, do a second visit to those particular areas. Otherwise it's on your knees, bitch, and scrub with a toothbrush for the most stubborn of crap that most likely will never come off ever...buy new wheels.

I bought my alloys the day I bought my car (12-13yrs ago)... No need to change them yet

That's cool news and a great pic. That's great they are updating those cars.
I own a Bricklin SV1 which was made before the Delorean.

John Delorean ended up buying one of the rejected Bricklin designs from Malcom Bricklin and the Delorean was born from the Bricklin. There's even been some talk that the Bricklin may go back into production since only 2854 were originally built and after all these years only around 1500 survive.

Actually a myth. Gull wing doors require less space than normal doors when they open. As they tend to go straight up rather than out. If you are concerned about space in parking lots then Gull wing doors are definitely the way to go.

There's a really fat guy with dreadlocks who drives a delorean round where I live, one time I was in a beer garden with one of my mates and he pulled into the car park, so we were all like throwing the metal horns and going YEAH, which he seemed pleased with.

Then he whipped out his phone and started chatting, and we were like what's he up to, then suddenly a really fit girl runs out of the pubs and jumps into the car.

    Deloreans get the bitches.

It's cool to know they are back, I was actually quite upset to learn the BTTF rides were being retired (as are the Terminator ones - heresy)

I have trouble believing that. If you park say 1.5ft away from another car, I know with normal doors you can open them enough to get in... But gull-wing doors? Surely not!
