So how many hours does a typical day like that require of you? Does someone ask you to help out or do you just put your name out there and hope for a call? Sounds pretty cool, all the action and such, and worth it despite the somewhat tediousness that can occur. Hope your back is up to par again!

Aye, my back is feeling MUCH better now, yesterday it was sucking hard, but now it's fine.

I was acting as second camera, working with a bloke I'd been recommended to by someone I know at another organisation ... the guy said to the dude I was working with t'other day (this was last year when we first starting working together) along the lines of 'you need a good guy to provide second camera support? talk to this guy' - "this guy" being me, of course.

So it's all a case of who you know, and who 'who you know' knows ... if you know what I mean, hehe.

From waking up in the morning, till getting your head down at night, it depends. Fortunately on Saturday it wasn't as long as some previous days, and located somewhere a bit closer to where I live, so there wasn't as much travel.

But on a couple of projects I did with this dude last year, one day was 20 hours and another was 21 hours (waking up to getting into bed).

Lots of waiting involved, lots of pre-game tension if you will, lots of planning to do, lots of shifting about all over the place, running around getting your shots, ducking and weaving in and out of all the action - trying to keep out of the performer's way of course - and all the while trying to keep an eye on about 20 different things related to your filming that you're hired to do.

So it can get really hectic sometimes, but during the actual 'game' if you will, it all goes really fast and it's just 'run & gun' style shooting, stuck in there amongst it all, acting fast and thinking on your feet. Tiring, but rewarding.

This sort of thing is documentary filmmaking of course, which I'm cool with, but my main aim is to get into fictional filmmaking you know, but this is all part of climbing the ladder.

Where do you actually live MZ? Just in case something random comes up on my side of things that might be of use to you film-making wise.
