Prefers to walk on his hind legs? So they show two clips repeatedly, over and over. D

id they mean to say, the gorilla sometimes walks on his hind legs, but if we say that it doesn't sound so impressive, so instead we'll imply he does it most of the time...

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Nothing really new.

It has been observed in the wild in multiple species before with video evidence. IIRC discovery had an article about human evolution and dead ends back in the nineties pointing out several of our cousins that are no longer around had also learned to walk erect. There was a bonobo about 15 years ago that caused a similar sensation.

Btw, Oliver, while impressive, is pure chimp even though he had us wondering back in the seventies. DNA tests done a few years ago seem to point to the fact that he a member of a subspecies of chimp that happens to be a bit smarter than average. Oliver is alive and well in a primate care facility the last I have heard, being taken care of in his old age and no longer on display to the general public.
