Usually they split a 16 episode season into two chunks of 8 episodes. This time the season is 24 episodes long, so it's gonna be three chunks of 8 episodes each (the second and third being broadcast in 2022).

Just watched the first episode of season 11. Gotta say it was pretty good, a nice start.

Really enjoyed that. Two main stories with different groups in different locations going on, so you don't just feel bogged down in the same one thing, which was nice. Also, plenty of zombie stuff going on - the opening raid on that military base for MREs was really cool and tense, and numerous little details I liked (e.g. the women went down because they were the lightest, Carol brought back Daryl's knives). The subway tunnel stuff was all groovy too - spooky setting, creepy mystery, genuine long-burn character conflict - good stuff. I liked the questioning sequence, too. Nicely cut together to get the point across without dragging it out.

Forgot in the UK this is now on Disney+ Eh? That's fucked up. A slap in the face for UK fans, too. I always got it via other means as the original airings in the UK were oftentimes censored for violence because of airing at 9pm rather than 10pm, and have always bought the seasons on Blu-Ray subsequently. And this is the problem with too many streaming services and, frankly, the wider issue of Disney owning too damn much stuff. It'll be off to the salty seas for ye, Neil.

I can’t believe Rosita was actually in this episode. Good stuff. Overall I enjoyed it. Really intense and the interrogation sequence ended on a humorous note. Didn’t like what they did with Negan though. It’s almost like they want the audience to sympathize with Maggie so they oddly scripted Negan to say and do things that were more representative of Negan in season 7 than Negan post time skip.

I can’t believe Rosita was actually in this episode. Good stuff. Overall I enjoyed it. Really intense and the interrogation sequence ended on a humorous note. Didn’t like what they did with Negan though. It’s almost like they want the audience to sympathize with Maggie so they oddly scripted Negan to say and do things that were more representative of Negan in season 7 than Negan post time skip. Well, Negan's still a dickheaded asshole, he's just not a despotic dickheaded asshole anymore. I like the clash between him and Maggie. Not only is it earned and realistic, the antagonism feels justified in both directions (despite Negan's murdering of Glenn). If you look at it from either side you can understand where they're coming from. I dig it. It's not just character clashing for the sake of it, it's all building upon well establishing backstory for these characters and it also represents the very tricky scenarios they might find themselves in from time to time, having to deal with nefarious sorts. It's not just cheap stuff with people we hardly know. It's also good to see the lingering idea of the possibility for reform in the ZA, as Rick was aiming for at the end of the war with the Saviours. Can it truly work? Are there some things you just can't come back from?
