I never realised what a mentalist Uday Hussein was!? And the film of this nutter seems to be getting good comments!

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. What a disgusting and despicable individual. I hope the film doesn't soften the crimes of the real person ... what a scumbag.

There seems to be a lot of mentalists & cruel people in the arab parts of the world, especially those with any power! Did you read about those police in Dubai that beat that english tourist half to death, then left him for 3 days to die in his own blood a couple of weeks ago? puts me off ever visiting any of those places. Uday Hussein was a real nasty piece of work though, I remember reading about him shortly after the Iraq invasion when all the tabloids were doing profiles on Saddams henchmen relating to that deck of cards for the most wanted. I was glad when he got whacked alongside his brother in that firefight!

Well, the coroner didn't comeback with those events?

The coroner is on the Dubai government payroll though, speaks volumes! Something happened to the guy, he certainly didnt do that to himself, and others who were in the same jail seem to be telling the same story about him being very badly beaten. The coroner claims he choked on his own vomit, well he probably would have done if he was badly concussed & drifting in & out of conciousness while handcuffed & without any medical attention...

Mmm ... the trailer almost makes it look a bit 'glamorous', if you will. Like "yeah, he's a bit of a bastard, but look - cars and women and money and power!" ... yeah, nevermind women kidnapped routinely to be raped and murdered, innocent civilians and even government men slaughtered for no apparent reason, and so on and so on ... ... heinous scum.

Thats the draw for a lot of these gangster and football violence films as well I think, its all glammed up & styled, and a lot of people, especially those of a chav/yob persuasion think its great & want to live like that, rather than being appalled by the violence which is maybe or maybe not the directors intention...

I'd hope it doesn't glitz him! The outcry would be incredible! I can only see it painting him as a mad man surely!?

The reviews are fairly +ve - http://www.cinemablend.com/reviews/T...uble-5370.html, seemingly mainly due to Dominic Cooper's performance!

More about the nutter! beyond belief! - http://editinternational.com/read.php?id=47ddcef722fca

Uday always slept with the winner of the Miss Iraq contest. But when attractive student Ilham Ali Al-azami won she turned him down. Uday abducted Miss Iraq to his palace. He raped her over and over again and then as punishment for her defiance allowed all his bodyguards to rape her for an entire week. Then Uday circulated a rumor that the girl was a slut and let her go. The girl’s father, a devote Muslim, was so ashamed he killed his own daughter. When the aging father appeared at Uday’s palace Uday had the old man shot.

    *shudders*

A truly horrid excuse for a human being ... in Total Film they gave it 3/5, but it seems that the film is more interested in Uday, than the titular "Devil's Double", and it has an element of styling after films like Scarface which, for a film based on a real life nutter who committed such hellish acts, just feels uncomfortable and wrong. I'll watch it at some point, but I do wonder if the focus/style of the film is going to be unwelcome ... but then it also seems that the trailer is glamming it up a bit more than it necessarily is (i.e. not delving into Uday being a despicable and routine rapist).

It's stories like that which make me all the more disbelieving that Saddam and his shitbag family weren't ousted in 1991.
